Could do with more outputs but works brilliant in tandem with the KRK Roket RP5 G2.

I run a community cinema and for many years we have been looking for an affordable sound system that can reproduce spoken dialogue as clearly and crisply as possible as well as giving a cinema feel authenticity to the sound. We were trying to achieve clarity in the spoken dialogue along with sufficient bass to obtain the rumbles, bangs and crashes necessary to provide that special cinema sound. We invested in two bose line array system with double bass modules but wanted an affordable, quality passive mixer, that allowed us to continuously shape the sound. The sound track of many modern film DVD's are extremely variable with some scenes requiring a lot of bass to emphasise the rumbles, bangs and crashes, of an action scene and other scenes requiring an emphassi on middle and high frequencies to make the dialogue crystal clear. This Mackie product seems to possess the ability to make very large differences in frequency ranges and allows the user to shape the sound to a considerable degree. It also makes it very easy to connect other line inputs like, PC's, MP3 players, mikes etc so that one can seamlessly seque from one input to another without any break in the programme. It is also extremely robustly made and can withstand the kind of hard wear that cheaper units cannot offer. If thousnads of pounds are being spent on active speakers its certainly worth getting a decent passive mixer.
