- What does this mean?
Behold the latest Chapman signature guitar - the ML1 Rabea Massaad signature model. Made for Dorje & Toseland guitarist Rabea Massaad, the ML1-RM is based on the popular Chapman ML1 but with a few cool tweaks!
First: the body is made from Alder rather than mahogany, making it a little lighter and snappier sounding. Then we added a 1000 Series Floyd Rose trem & locking nut system. The neck is made of maple with an ebony fret board, with a slim & fast feeling profile. We also designed a set through neck joint that was custom hand sanded by Rabea to give him the exact feel that he wanted.
The pickups are genuine USA made Seymour Duncans with an SH1-59 in the neck and a Floyd spaced SH5 Duncan Custom in the bridge. Rabea requested that we remove the tone control, so you just have a simple volume pot that can be pulled out to coil split the pickups. The guitar features a quilted maple veneer and is finished with a beautiful and understated wax finish that allows the guitar to resonate vibrantly & will also age nicely. The ML1-RM will include a Chapman deluxe gig bag.
The edges around the top of the guitar are slightly rolled to give extra comfort to the inside of the right arm when playing.

A message from Rabea about his guitar
It's Rabea here. First of all it should be recognised that I am so grateful for the opportunity to create this amazing guitar with Chapman Guitars, so thank you Rob and Lee.
As some people may be aware, I am a huge Nuno Bettencourt fan, and I have used the N4 guitars for about 5 years now, I love them to death! i swore i wouldn't ever use any other guitar.... however I never dreamed that I would be in this situation, when someone says, "we'll make you a guitar" I thought to myself, "I know it would be an N4 inspired guitar, but how could I change it to something I felt had more 'Me' in it"
My first guitar was a Washburn X-50 which some may know, it has a quilted maple top, an X inlay at the 12th fret and was a great, great guitar! Thus I decided to fuse the things I liked the most from the X-50 and the N4 and put them together. Having the looks of the X-50, but with the foundations of the N4 AND... It worked out GREAT!!! I couldn't be happier with the result and this guitar really holds its own in feel, looks and tone!
It will age amazingly with a wax finish, the quilt is glorious yet understated and the neck is so similar to my N4, it literally feels like the same guitar.
The only thing that I couldn't do the same was the Stephens Extended Cutaway feature on the N4 guitars. I asked for a double spoon cut instead to give me upper access. When proto 2 came back, it was SO close, but the spoon cut on the back was just a little thin in width. so I sanded it to my comfort and feel. Now it's literally perfect! I couldn't be happier.
I urge you to try one of these guitars out, for the money, it feels insane and it sounds incredible! Coil taps, double humbuckered floyd loaded axe of alder and ebony WIN!!!
Thanks for looking and happy playing :-)
It's important to keep your Chapman guitar safe and sound from the big bad world! A hardcase is great for long distance journeys or if you are touring, it's worth protecting your investment! Check out the Gator Deluxe ABS Case in our related items, it snugly fits all ML-1 Chapman guitars.

Incredible value, high end components well put together. Sounds size as f*ck. The finish is very unique, a waxed quilt maple veneer which has an interesting holographic ripple effect, the grain looks different from every angle, stunning. Everything works perfectly.

No complaints about the staff in the shop - atmosphere was relaxed and helpful. The set up of the guitar I bought wasn't so great. The tremolo and the intonation were both quite badly out. Possibly my own fault for not checking before I left but a little disappointing given I'd driven an hour or so to buy the guitar as opposed to buying it online.

Incredible guitar. Sounds better and plays better than most guitars 3 times its price. Set up perfectly by Pablo too. Included gig bag in really good too. Very happy with this guitar and I recommend Chapman products to other musicians.

Great guitar, very easy to play. Sounds fantastic and arrived perfectly set-up. Slight amount of dirt where the fret board meets the body, a few scratches on the faces of the humbuckers, and it could have been better-finished where the top has been routed for the humbuckers and tremolo, but these points are barely visible.

It's not a bad guitar but the neck profile was not as advertised and didn't feel right in my hand. So I returned it.

I'm loving this guitar. It's a really sounding beast and I would buy another at the drop of a hat if I had the cash to spare. Hopefully it will be a long running product or maybe have another release in a different colour in the future.

Badass Axe!!! I wish I could afford two for different tunings. Hopefully they will do more than one run of these as it is a truly awesome guitar. Props to Bea!

guitar is brilliant! (br/)quality is amazing (br/)cant believe the price (br/)only only one small thing,it is bright sounding guitar (br/)going from a gibson traditional to this was wierd at first (br/)will most likely swap out bridge pickup with something a little less bright (br/)but they did say it was copied after the washburn n4 so i expected it. (br/)other then that i cant put it down!.they would charge double or more if it was a washburn or a prs, absolute bargain for the money ,i will be buying another chapman soon :)

Been interested in what Chapman has been doing for a while but I already have a variety of guitars around the £1,000 mark so they didn't seem necessary. Then I saw this with Seymour Duncan's and a Floyd Rose but not the usual glossy soulless guitar that can sometimes go with them. I knew I'd cave and buy one! I really couldn't find anything else for this money.
My EC1000 has EMG's and is too metal for me. I have a battered '76 Strat which has a great tone but is tough to play and fights back too hard sometimes.
This ML1 Rabea is exactly what I wanted. Great tone either clean or distorted. I love the finish (not laquered) really easy to play with its highly polished neck. And in this current hot humid weather its the only guitar I have that is staying in tune, even with Trem abuse.
Only slight negative for me, which is fixable, is the height of the action passed the 12th fret. I don't know if this is common with all Floyd Rose equipped guitars as its the first one I've owned. Just didn't expect it to be higher than my old Strat.
Overall, I love it. I think it will age well and I can see it becoming my 'go to' guitar for years to come.
So, now you're making a name for yourself Bea how about a few on-line lessons :)
