An authentically styled Jaguar now joins the Vintage Modified family, with present-day touches including sharp, clear Duncan Designed pickups and a modern fingerboard radius. Squier's new Vintage Modified Jaguar rocks the model's distinctive hallmarks, too - such as the 24" scale, dual-circuit switching and controls, floating-vibrato bridge and classically colorful Surf Green, Candy Apple Red, Olympic White and Three-color Sunburst finishes.

Features include a maple neck with vintage-tint gloss finish, 9.5"-radius rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and parchment dot inlays, tortoiseshell (Three-Color Sunburst and Olympic White models) and white-black-white pickguards (Candy Apple Red and Surf Green models), Jaguar single-coil pickups, circuit selector and tone circuit switches, pickup on/off switches, skirted black control knobs (lead circuit) and black disc knobs (rhythm circuit), vintage-style bridge and non-locking floating vibrato with vintage-style tremolo arm, vintage-style chrome tuners and chrome hardware.

Drop in a Mustang Bridge for better reliability

This guitar can accomodate a Fender Mustang bridge. Some players (harder players in particular) prefer the deeper grooves of the Mustang bridge as it means that the strings pop out of the bridge less often.

We sell the Fender Mustang Bridge separately, and the best thing is that you can just 'drop it in' to a Vintage Modified Jaguar or Jazzmaster with no need for any extra drilling into your guitar! Why not try it out to see which one you prefer?

I bought this guitar a couple of weeks ago now. So I thought it would be a good idea to write a review about how I'm finding it. I was genuinely surprised at how good these Vintage Modified Squiers are. They play very well and you really can't knock them (for the price anyway). It sounded good straight out of the box. The short scale neck is very playable and doesn't take long to get used to. The hardware doesn't seem cheap and the guitar appears to be very well made. The tremolo system works well and the tuner pegs seem like a sturdy design. The 'Duncan Designed' pickups sound good, quite hot and I have no desire to upgrade them in the near future. Switching to the bright channel really makes the guitar sing. I have given the guitar 4 out of 5 due to the bridge. The Jaguar bridges are notoriously known for being a bit useless when you play quite hard. The strings slip out of the grooves and end up all over the place. This however can be fixed by upgrading to a Mustang bridge (which I bought from Andertons) and it is a direct replacement (no drilling required, just drops straight in). This has stopped the rattle I had and the guitar now seems pretty spot on. I would also recommend using heavier gauge strings as it improves the guitars tone further in my opinion. really pleased with my purchase and I would highly recommend one of these Jaguars.

The Jaguar has been on my guitar bucket list for ages but until the Squier version became available it was out of reach of my pocket. What a great guitar this is for the money. Fantastically playable out of the box (these Squiers have great necks) although I have changed the strings to 11s rather than the 9s it comes with. The pickups, finish and general construction are all great too. A fine looker and a great player. I would recommend it to anyone who is into the offset short scale guitar.

I have had this guitar now for a few weeks, overall it has a fairly nice finish and feel. all the hardware feels solid except for the master tone and volume knobs which do feel cheap, but if it bothers you its a cheap and easy change to make.

other than that, the neck is nice and it's short scale which makes it easier to play harder chords. there is no free play on the tremolo bar, so it stays where you leave it. the pickups are quite hot, I can get virtually any sound I want out of them, from the smiths jangly sound through to dinosaur jr type distortion, they sound great.

I would strongly advise people to buy a mustang bridge for this guitar however, as the stock bridge rattled badly and had bad string jumping if you play hard, so the guitar was practically unplayable before I made this change.

this is a problem with even top of the line fender jaguars/jazzmasters though. don't worry, changing the bridge only takes 1 minute and the mustang bridge just drops in place of the stock one without any drilling or anything.

overall a good deal, just be aware about the bridge problem.
