Tweaked to perfection, the Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmaster is for those who like their guitars a little different. As well as reproducing an affordable version of the Fender Jazzmaster, Squier have precision engineered components of the bridge to ensure ultimate playability whilst retaining the unique character of a Jazzmaster guitar.

Drop in a Mustang Bridge for better reliability

This guitar can accomodate a Fender Mustang bridge. Some players (harder players in particular) prefer the deeper grooves of the Mustang bridge as it means that the strings pop out of the bridge less often.

We sell the Fender Mustang Bridge separately, and the best thing is that you can just 'drop it in' to a Vintage Modified Jaguar or Jazzmaster with no need for any extra drilling into your guitar! Why not try it out to see which one you prefer?

Here's what Squier say about the Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmaster

With its offset waist and contoured body the new Vintage Modified Jazzmaster gives a nod to its iconic forbearer but has other things going for it that make it truly 'modified'. The unique top-loading hard tail bridge features string saddles which are adjustable for intonation and designed to have a 9.5" radius when sitting flat on the bridge plate. The bridge is anchored at the rear of the plate while the front sits atop height adjustment screws which can be raised or lowered to achieve desired string height/action while subtle adjustment at the rear (anchor) achieves the correct bridge angle.

A custom set of Duncan Designed pickups offers tones from glassy smooth to jangly rockin' rhythm crunch with a vintage toned neck pickup and higher output bridge pickup. Other features include '62 Jazz Bass concentric volume/tone controls, vintage style tuners and a comfortable one-piece maple neck.

Vintage Guitar Magazine Review

  • Plugged in, the Jazzmaster does what it’s supposed to do – rock. The Jazzmaster can flat-out hang with a number of more-expensive guitars, and do it with style.
  • Through a variety of amps live and in the studio, it had a presence that worked well. The Duncan Design pickups had great jangle, with a fatness that kept them even in terms of output.
  • The Jazzmaster does offer a fair amount of flexibility, aided by the stacked-knob control configuration. Being able to dial in individual volume and tone opens it to an array of tones suitable for country, blues, and oldschool soul music.
  • The Vintage Modified Jazzmaster harkens to the early ’80s Squiers, which have a rep for being great player instruments. It’s well-made and represents a good value, with plenty of retro vibe and tone
