The unique metal screen not simply perforated but louvered at a slight angle to redirect ultra-low frequency breath blasts and to the side of the screen. This process does not attenuate high frequencies--as do fabric screens--and leaves the vocal performance unaffected, and without annoying low frequency "pops".

Takes a lot of the high end sibilance out of vocals, a lot more effective and less destructive then the old nylon tights trick.

Does the job well, however hard to manipulate into certain angles

Rather than the usual stocking-like pop shields, this features a wider metal mesh. It works well and is well made. I got mine free with the Se X1 mic and reflection filter bundle, so it was excellent value for money.

Great little pop shield. Seems to block more unwanted plosives than a regular fabric shield - this one is metal mesh.

Excellent pop shield, best one i've used for a bedroom studio. Especially good for a tenna.

I thought I had a good pop shield but in comparison this is exceptional!

I know it’s silly to get excited over a pop shield but I don’t get out a lot!

I did the pop test with both shields and the SE shield came out tops.

It’s worth getting this and not settling for a cheaper version.

I've reviewed the SE X1 mic and isolation filter elsewhere and given them 5 stars. This I've given four - it does what it's meant to do but could be a bit easier to mount and a little sturdier.

Back to back testing shows that the plosives get cut out substantially on close mic'd vocals so the pop filter does what it says on the tin. My only concern is that the mesh screen has no surround to it so it's in danger of being bent or creased if carelessly handled or stored. A rigid plastic surround to the mesh would, in my opinion, have made it strionger. That said, of course, if it does get bent, it should be easy to bend back into shape so maybe I'm worrying unnecessarily....

The mounting bracket is pretty straightforward and, once it's in position, holds the screen nice and solid - but, again, it just feels a bit less rugged than the mic and reflexion filter and I'm not sure how long it will stand up to the kind of ham-fisted abuse that I tend to inadvertently dish out. So far all is well so, again, I may be worrying without reason.

For the price, though, a great peice of kit that does what it says on the tin. Well, on the packaging anyway.

The SE metal pop shield works great doing exactly what it says on the tin - It eliminated the pops and thumps on my recordings which occuring mainly on my 'plosive' sounds i.e. words that start with the letter 'B' or 'P'. Ecellent value too as part of the great bundle offer!
