When you picture a resonator guitar almost everyone thinks about one like the Regal RC2 Metal Body Resonator. The Nickel plated brass body punches out a classic resonator tone with a huge character that will cut through a mix or fill up a room on its own. Sizzling highs right through to chunky blues lows perfect for deep south blues or even modern folk-pop.

Here's what Regal say about the RC2 Metal Body Resonator

The Duolian Resonator Guitar was a favorite with blues legends such as Son House, Bukka White and Tampa Red when it first appeared in 1931. In the days before electric amplification, blues musicians were looking for an instrument that could produce the volume they needed while still maintaining the tone they required. The Duolian was the answer. The RC-2 in Style-0 features a nickel-plated brass body.

I love my Regal Duolian resonator! I bought this because my wife has always loved the look of "those metal guitars" so when she saw the selection in Andertons (we'd gone there to buy a Roland Cube) she really wanted me to try them. This was very easy to do as there are so many practice rooms that I has no problem trying each available type in private without embarrassment. I loved the look of the Tricone but she said the single cone RC2 sounded the best so that was it.

I was concerned that the body might mark easily and be hard to keep clean but this has proved to be unfounded, although I do give it a quick polish after each practice. And I do use it every day, much to my own surprise. Learning to pay slide in Open G has become quite addictive with the help of YouTube and a £1.99 iPhone app!

The overall finish is lovely, action and tuning are good and solid. The sound is amazing and learning to develop an accurate slide technique with vibrato is very satisfying. The only point to watch out for on the finish is that the mirrored truss rod cover marks easily and the decal surrounding it is a transfer that comes off easily if scratched. And the only negative on the sound is that I haven't managed to get the bottom string to sound in tune even when it is perfectly pitched, although this is hardly a problem as this string plays little or no part in Open G slide. I'm hoping a change of strings will sort this at some point.

Overall, a really nice addition to my musical life.
