Zoom H4n Stereo Recorder

This fantastic recorder now comes with a FREE 8GB SD Card! Just add the recorder to your cart, and we'll throw in your memory card for free! This is in addition to the 2GB card included inside the box. So you get 10GB worth of memory with the Zoom H4n.

The Zoom H4n continues Zooms fantastically popular range of "handy" recorders. Popular because they're easy to use & very affordable. Just point, press record & play. You'll be amazed at the quality of all the Zoom Handy recorders - high quality condenser mics capture incredible detail & then save the files at an impressive 24 bit at 96 khz rate (that's better than CD quality). Upload the file to your PC and that band rehearsal, jam or music lesson is captured for good.

Here are the improvements the Zoom H4n offers over the Zoom H4

True 4-track recording simultaneously with both built-in mics and both XLR/TRS inputs (previously only 2 tracks simultaneously)
Removing of the toggle control button
Larger screen with orange backlit display (replacing smaller green lit display)
Ability to hang from neck by lanyard
Built-in tripod connection (no need for adapter)
Includes mic clip adapter to attach to boom stand
Custom shaped protective plastic case

Zoom H4n Features:
Up to 24-bit @ 96 kHz for High-definition Audio
Up to 32 GB SDHC cards for maximum recording time
Broadcast Wave Format (BWF) compatible time stamp and track marker
Auto-record and pre-record feature so you never miss a moment
Built-in reference speaker to check recordings

Variable speed playback capability for phrase training
Onboard mid-side matrix decoder for additional miking possibilities
Stamina mode enables 11 hours of continuous battery life
Large 1.9 inch LCD Screen
Built-in X/Y stereo condenser mics at either 90 or 120 degrees

Rubberized body for improved chassis protection
Built in mounting joint for tripod or mic stand mounting
USB 2.0 port for faster file transfer
Includes 1 GB card, power supply, wind screen, mic clip adapter, USB cable, Protective case and Cubase LE Software
The Zoom H4n records to SD and SDHC Flash media (up to 32GB) and captures audio resolutions up to 24 bit at 96KHz.

I have not used this recorder for very long so I don't know it inside out yet, but my first few weeks with it I have been very impressed.

What stands out greatly is the quality (don't play back through it's speaker as this wont give you the full appreciation of you sound) get some cans on your head and just listen to what you've just recorded. Very outstanding CD+ quality. I'm the worst singer in the world and it even makes my voice sound acceptable.

It's also quite easy to use and a feature I like is the Multitrack recording. It is a portable recording studio. If you are guitar or keyboardist (i use both) they come accross top notch. And is very robust to take anywhere. I do recommend you get rechargable batteries to use though. I used some disposable ones first time and when you go into multitrack mode its zapps them almost instantly. If you are near a power supply use that with the included adapter. Go for it.

I needed to record our uke band and acoustic group in various situations from outside live stage gigs to practice sessions in bedrooms or sheds. The H4n copes with it all. I like the simple menu selection and intuitive use. Works on AA batteries and with the card supplied will record over 12 hours. I record every thing and edit using the Cubase LE5 suppied.

    My best buy.

Very pleased with H4n which was despatched within hours.

Don't know fully how it works yet, but i'm working through the "difficult to understand" manual and getting help from YouTube.

    Would recommend.

The quality of the built-in condenser microphones is astonishingly good and when I plugged-in somecreally nice earbuds to listen to some test recordings my jaw nearly hit the floor, the sound quality was amazing.

At first I was a bit taken aback by the size of the operating manual, but it didn't take long to become proficient with most functionality and the menus are fairly logical once you get your head around them.

I did have a problem with the free Kingston card where on a number of occasions it wasn't recognized and needed removing and reinserting. I also had a file corrupted when splitting it. Kingston brand is usually great, so I think I've got a bad one and the unit has behaved perfectly with an 8GB SanDisk card.

Would I buy it again? Absolutely! I also thoroughly recommend the Windscreens for this device from http://redheadwindscreens.com infact they are so good that maybe Andertons would like to consider stocking them?

This Zoom digital stereo recorder is an excellent piece of equipment, light, portable and wonderful recording quality. As well as general recording, I have used the stereo mics as direct input to my recording program (Reaper) and they are absolutely brilliant for recording acoustic guitar on my DAW. The only problem is that I have to bypass my E-MU breakout box, so I record the guitar first then switch back to normal mode. The sound is crisp, clear and well-balanced. I´m very impressed!

Fantastic little recorder, that will really help me recording out in the field.

The XY microphones are of a fantastic quality and give really detailed recordings. It feels durable in your hand and 'throw-in-your-bag-proof' with the free hard case you get with it.

There is so many features, I haven't began to discover them all yet.

Excellent for anyone wanting to do quick recordings, or for recording foley sounds. e.g. birds, traffic etc.

I bought one of these from the Andertons Store last night just before closing time.

I tested it last night and it get's the thumbs up from me!

The flexibility the unit offers is great. The XY mic, inputs and preamps are all good quality.

The screen is clear and using the unit was quick and easy to get to grips with.

The build quality is good. The bundled accessories are also very handy

The only gripes I have are minor ones. It would have been nice to be able to set up recording profiles configured for each scenario I'll use it for but that's not the end of the world.

There is an input on the back for an external stereo mic to be used, which to be honest I didn't know was there before I got my hands on it. It would have been great for this to offer stereo line level input as well but you can't have everything I guess.

    Overall a great handy recorder!
