Tascam GT-R1 Guitar Recorder

With the Tascam GT-R1, you can plug in and record anywhere.

The Tascam GT-R1 combines a portable recorder with an instrument trainer for the ultimate songwriter's toolkit. Record using the built-in stereo condenser microphones, or plug in your guitar or bass to record using the amp simulator and effects. The GT-R1's built-in rhythm machine sets the groove when beginning your song, and the overdub mode allows you to build a song step-by-step.

TASCAM GT-R1 records in MP3 or WAV format, 16-bit or 24-bit. A generous 1GB SD card is included to get you started, and the USB 2.0 jack charges the recorder and copies your recordings to your PC or Mac. There's a low cut filter and analog limiter to keep levels under control, whether you're improvising in the studio or recording rehearsals or concerts.

There's no better tool for learning new songs and solos than TASCAM's instrument trainers. Load MP3 files into the GT-R1 and plug in to play along. Loop a section of a solo with two button presses, then slow it down without changing the pitch. You can even switch on a Guitar or Bass canceller to play along with the original rhythm section. The GT-R1 also includes a chromatic tuner and metronome for practice and warmup.

I can't underestimate the usefulness of this product in a situation where you need to record a two hour rehearsal in great quality, get home and connect it to your computer, edit the songs, transfer them back, connect your guitar and practice. It's really easy to use and you can apply effects if you wish, it's even got a basic non editable drum machine. The battery life is great and the 2 gig SD card is more than enough. The unit is about the size of a small portable radio and comes with a case and USB cable. The main manual is in pdf on the SD card. The battery is a mobile phone type which can be replaced. I am using my iPod three pin wall plug USB adapter with the supplied cable to charge the unit but you can charge it direct from a computer. Charging takes about 4 hours. I have used other Tascam CD based guitar trainers before but this is exactly what I needed and basically it's a recorder and trainer in one unit. After a search on the web, Andertons appeared to sell the unit for the best price I could find. I would absolutely recommend the product to anyone who needs to go away from a rehearsal and continue

    to practice.

Bought this Tascam digital recorder with guitar specific features for guitar practice while I'm away from home. Great for playing along to dpwnloaded mp3s - either commercial songs or own previous recordings - all the sounds/effects you need are already on the GT-R1 - just plug in the guitar, and pit on the headphones for quiet practice.

You can also do basic overdubbing so it can become a song writing tool for the traveling guitarist. High quality recording of gigs & rehearsals too. Very easy to use. Cheaper now than when launched a couple of years ago so buy one if you need the features. Highly recommended.

I finally tracked the GT-R1 down!!! After nemerous internet searches I realised the unit was like gold dust!!! Luckily I found one at Andertons!!! I must admit I thought that the claims about the unit were probably going to be a false claim. (A lot of products do tend to dissapoint!!) I got it home and like an excited little school boy(I'm 39!!!) I took it out the box and charged it!!

The time to use it came, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!! I couldn't believe the results. Songs that have written down, stored on a dictaphone and even on a voice recorder on a mobile phone were now coming to life on the GT-R1.

I'm pretty naeve when it comes to recording but this really helped me out. It's easy to use and the overdub part of the machine is the item that has helped out the most. It's fantastic.

I was going to buy the Tascam DP-008 but thought that product was a bit complicated to use for someone who doesn't know how to record. Buying the GT-R1 was a god send for me. It will help out a lot until it is time to move up to a better piece of kit!!!

I saw a review on an American site. Someone said that the GT-R1 was complicated and hard to use. He even said it was not a helpful tool to record with. His computer software was better!! He gave it one star!!! To me it was totally the opposite!! 5 stars and a great product.. Andertons were also very helpful in relation to this product and other Tascam products. I don't work for Tascam or Andertons I'm just a satisfied customer!!!
