Both live and in the studio it's often important to get unbalanced signals into a desk or PA as cleanly as possible. What you need in that situation is a DI box (or direct inject). The S-direct from Samson is a quality DI box that's rugged enough to withstand daily usage. It is made to be simplicity itself: a single Jack in leads to a jack output (through put) and an XLR output. There's also a pad switch on the input to get the input level right. Because it's active (many low priced DI boxes are passive) the sound is balanced more cleanly with a better signal to noise ratio so your tone is retained and the S-direct doesn't colour your sound.

The Samson S-direct can be powered by a 9v battery or phantom power

Here's what Samson say about the S-direct DI Box

As a regular feature of a club sound system or as a durable road piece the S-Direct is the only direct box you'll ever need.

The Samson S Direct Active Box is an excelent product and does exactly what it should.

I use it for recording Solo Jazz Guitar straight through the mixer into the tracker. I keep the monitors on during recording. I hate monitoring through headphones. You can't judge music through headphones.

The Samson DI Box enthances the warmth of an archtop and there is no aditional noise or disstortion introduced into

the signal chain. Something you often can get with much more expensieve and complicated DI Boxes. Many of them

make the low end sound harsh, the top very sterile and also kill the dynamic changes of your playing.

They almost compress the sound and I absolutely detest compression on a guitar.

    Not so with the Samson.

You would not hear the difference between a miked

amp and a direct recording. Miked Jazzguitar often sounds too muffled and you get a lot of backround hiss and hum, because you record at a low volume. I only go direct.

The Samson S Direct Box makes this possible.

It's the missing link for direct recording.

    Best wishes

Excellent active DI box that is solid in construction and will survive many a gig to come. Powered from phantom power, no need to replace batteries all the time (although a 9v is an option).

    Highly recommended.
