I've owned the Edirol R-09 for some time and have found it a very useful piece of kit. It's small size means that it can be carried anywhere and the choice of LINE or MIC input and manual recording levels means that it can be connected to a wide variety of other noise making equipment. The built in microphones are of a good enough quality to make pleasing recordings when the unit is placed in front of a band for example. Transfering recordings to a computer for making into CDs or files to email is also very easy
