This has been a massive step forward for our band. We do everything from quiet folk songs to rock and roll and it has been a pain to keep taking the guitar off to make any changes. Changing the mix from the ipad on a mic stand is wonderful.
Having gating and compression is a real bonus as well in keeping the mix quiet.
An excellent product that is real state of the art. I can highly recommend it. The only issue has been the ipad occasionally losing sycnh with the dl1608, which i am sure is an issue of the ipad and not the router or mixer.

Brilliant little mixer recently enhanced with a firmware update. Sounds great and is very flexible with iPad and iPhone/iPod control via wifi. Has a very small footprint but brings massive processing to smaller stages. I use this in preference to my Presonus SL16.4.2, I don't feel that I'm missing any features at all with this smaller desk. Fast delivery to Northern Ireland from Andertons, great service.

This is a brilliantly designed desk from Mackie, having spent years carrying around big mixing desks with rack mounted outboard gear I am now so happy to just turn up with this tiny 16channel mixer which does a better job. Having the ability to A) mix wirelessly & B) for band to mix monitors wirelessly is amazing. 6 Aux sends, each with a 32band EQ, full compression, gates, reverbs & delays, can you imagine how much gear you would need using an analogue desk.
I seriously recommend this desk & feel Mackie have bought the world of expensive digital desks & wireless technology to the main stream at a very affordable price, if your about to buy a new mixing desk take the DL1608 as a very serious option.

What can I say? The DL1608 represents a huge change for our band, or to be precise for our sound guy.
For gigs, we can now do away with our huge 16:4 analogue mixer, plus the outboard, comprising a DBX Compressor, Alesis Reverb,Behringer EQ and a whole pile of patch cables. It always looked impressive, but took ages to set up and one faulty cable can wreck the sound check. All that is left is the DL1608, an Apple Airport Express and the loom.
This was so scary a proposition it took us an afternoon of sound checking to get levels right, but the BIG advantage is that you can set up most of the mix on the iPad before you get anywhere near the rehearsal room. Plus, with a second iPad I was able to download the mix and alter the foldback settings from the iPad holder on my mic stand! Our sound guy has threatened to break my fingers if I go near the FOH settings on my iPad, but Oh, the Power!
We are now looking to get a second DL1608 for the drum mix, so we can tailor the sound and level of each drum over WiFi from the FOH position. No more walking back and forth from the stage, or relying on someone elses ears or clumsy fingers on the mixer!
Well done Mackie.
Only two gripes and you won't be overly surprised to hear it's iOS6 that causes my iPad to lose WiFi connection periodically with the DL1608. The sound guy has iOS5 and it hasn't dropped his connection once!
The second, smaller gripe is that Mackie have chosen not to include a simple connection for an external background music source on the DL1608. Only the iPad can supply music, unless you use up two mixer channels. Flipping between the Master Fader app and the Music app is a pain.
