Gibson Les Paul Standard Traditional (Ebony)

The Les Paul Standard Traditional Electric Guitar got its name because Gibson gave it all the traditional features you expect from a Les Paul: mahogany body and set neck with rounded '50s profile maple top and a pair of Gibson's '57 Classic humbucker pickups.

One significant yet not-so-traditional improvement-the neck has been Plek'd on Gibson's Plek machine.

The neck and frets are analyzed by a computer-controlled robot and then the frets are filed to an accuracy of a hundredth of a millimeter for optimal action and intonation without string buzzing.

What Gibson say about the Les Paul Standard Traditional

You asked for it-you got it. Introducing the Les Paul Standard Traditional from Gibson USA. With all the fat, sweet, snarling Les Paul tone that purists love, the Traditional plays, sounds, and weighs like the Les Pauls today's players grew up loving and lusting after.

Taking design and visual cues from the Les Pauls of the '80s and '90s, the Les Paul Standard Traditional starts with an un-chambered mahogany body with traditional weight-relief holes for a beefy tone that maintains the resonance of modern Les Pauls.

The body is capped with a carved, maple top-plain maple on Ebony and Goldtops and beautiful AA-maple on other finishes-and the hand fitted neck tenon sports the rounded, C-shape profile common on the Les Pauls of the '80s and '90s.

Gibson is also proud to announce that the Traditional is Gibson USA's first model to utilize the revolutionary Plek system-a computer-controlled set-up that carefully measures and dresses each fret, accurately measuring the height between the fingerboard and each string, virtually eliminating string buzz and providing unbeatable playability.

Two of Gibson's best-loved humbuckers-a '57 Classic in the neck position, and a '57 Classic Plus in the bridge-give the new Traditional the power, punch, and clarity of Gibson's legendary PAF pickups.

Other traditional appointments include vintage-style Gibson speed knobs, classic Kluson-style tuners by TonePros, which offer period-correct looks with a higher tuning ratio, and a chrome Nashville Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar. Each Les Paul Standard Traditional also comes with Gibson USA's standard black snakeskin case.

Bought this from Andertons last week. Spoke to Matt on the phone to enquire about the guitar and the deal that was on offer, and was very happy.

Guitar came when It was supposed to and took no time in opening the box. Pulled out the guitar and played it straight away.

This guitar is easily heavier than my Les Paul Studio due to the weight relieved body. Out the box the PLEK'd neck played good, no real string buzz and acoustics sounded good.

Plugged guitar into my amp (Peavey Valveking 212) and on the clean channel it really does sound sweet. I thought the 57 classic's would be more bassier but surprised how nice they are. On the crunch channel this is everything i wanted, from slash to gary moore to most things i tried the tones are easy to do. Very responsive guitar to volume / tone roll off and also pinched harmonics fly of the neck !! The sustain is amazing and much more fuller than my studio

Very happy with the guitar and the only change I have made is to replace the strap buttons with some strap locks, especially due to the weight, and put some new strings on !!
