Sennheiser Freeport FP12 Wireless Presenter Set

The Sennheiser Freeport Wireless System offers a high quality UHF, multi channel wireless system at an incredible price. If you're not familiar with wireless jargon, here are the basics!

UHF stands for Ultra High Frequency - this refers to the type of radio wave that the wireless system transmits on. Older (& sometimes the new but very cheap) wireless systems are still using VHF (Very High Frequency) to transmit on, & these are the types of system that often interfere with local taxi firms & other shortwave radio users.

UHF does not have this problem & provided that you're using a UK licenced frequency (which you will be with a Freeport system) the only interference that is possible is from another UHF wireless system that uses the same frequency (ie - another member of your band!).

Multi Channel means that the wireless system can be switched to work on different frequencies. The Sennhieser Freeport system has 4 frequencies (or channels) to chose from - all of which are UK approved to be used without a licence.

This means you can run 4 Freeport systems simultaneously in the same band - you just each select a unique frequency.

If you need more than 4 wireless systmes then you'll need to buy a more expensive system with more frequencies to chose from (like the Sennheiser Evolution Systems.

In summary, the Freeport system operates on UHF which means virtually no chance of interference, & it has 4 channels to choose from, which means up to 4 people can use Freeport systems in the same band.

The presenter system is sometimes called a lapel system. This is ideal for teachers or other business presentations as the lapel mic that comes with the system is very small & just clips to your clothing.

Here's what Sennheiser say about the Freeport FP12 Wireless Presenter System

A very simple to set up and use system. I regularly speak in public and wanted a wireless mic that was a reasonable cost but had some flexibility too. This Sennheiser has this in spades. It just works.

It might have been nice to have a carry case with it but I guess would have added somewhat to the price. I keep mine in the box it came in which keeps it safe for transport.

My audio rig is the Mackie SRM150 (see my review) with which the mic is eminently suitable.

I also received excellent service and advice from Andertons they even threw in an XLR cable.

Purchased this along with a Presenter Mic. The tie clip mic is very good, if you adjust the gain and squelch on the receiver you can get a fantastic pick up from the person speaking, like anything you have to work with it. Wished they had made the transmitter out of metal and not plastic...but would buy more if I need them.

I often film presentations and seminars for clients and this wireless lapel mic system is perfect for a price that makes me wonder why anyone really needs anything more expensive.

Set up was easy, though we had to tuck away the extra length of mic cable which is much longer than really necessary (better that than too short I suppose!) Then simply plug the receiver into the camera with an XLR cable and nice clear sound pretty much straight out of the box with no faffing.

The receiver seems nice and sturdy so I have no doubts that this kit will be up to the hammering that I'll no doubt give it. In fact I'm thinking about getting a second one for the odd occasion when I'm filming more than one person at a time or to make changeovers faster between multiple speakers on a day. Well pleased with it and highly recommended

Looking for a new Microphone/Presenter System for our Family History Society I chose Andertons in Guildford.

Their Service was just as they promised on website.

Ordered on one day and goods delivered on next working day.

All received and it full working order, I tested them and were used at the AGM over the week end.

    Brilliant System and excellent Service.

Other companies could learn much from this experience.

If we need anything in this line again I know where to go.

Having used the evolution range of Sennheiser's microphones for some time, I was dubious whether a microphone at this end of the market would really offer a good performance.

I've now used this system in two installations (school & church) and can say that I am very impressed. Of course it doesn't have the flexibility to run as many systems together as the evolution units, but up to four is pretty good and absolutely no interference or issues doing so.

The tie clip microphones give an excellent sound (again price/performance ratio is exceptional). The hand held is sold feeling, does not pick up much hand noise and again is a very clean sound. Shame it needs the little aerial out the bottom (hope it doesn't get dropped!), but guess that improves reception.

Overall a fantastic product - real value for money.

These units work on the following spot frequencies between 863-865MHz 863.10MHz, 863.70MHz, 864.10MHz and 864.90MHz.

They appear to work with a 20Khz bandwidth on this spot frequencies. I was able to use two additional radio mics at 863.40Mhz and 864.50Mhz making 6 simultaneous mics in all without any problems. The transmitters use PP3 batteries (I used rechargeables) which means very fast recharging is out of the question.

The outputs from the receivers had to be wound down quite a lot so as not to overdrive the sound desk. Sound quality was brilliant. These units are highly recommended especially at Andertons prices.

Excellent product for simple radio mic. requirements. Well built and very simple installation but with enough options to adapt to individual needs. Good quality sound (considering budget mic.unit) and good range.
