The Marshall JTM1 50th Anniversary Head is a Limited Edition 1w valve amp based on Marshall's legendary JTM45. It features 2 x EXX83 preamp valves and 1 x ECC82 poweramp valve for classic 1960s Marshall Crunch: think Jimi Hendrix and The Who.

The Mashall JTM1 features period correct details like the logo and styling that make this amp truly a miniaturised JTM45! Controls are simply 'Loudness' and 'Tone' (no master volume back in those days!).

  • This head features 8 & 16 Ohm Speaker Outputs
  • Here's what Marshall say about the JTM1

Starting with the decade in which Marshall Amplification as a company was born, the JTM1 truly reflects the origins of the company. Based on the tone stack of the JTM45, and as if the inputs had been 'jumped', the JTM1 is the simplest amp in the range in terms of layout, but still has all the warmth, brashness and bite you would expect in an amp based on this decade. Everything from bright clean in the amps lower volume stages, to true Marshall Crunch in the upper can be found; think windmill arm actions and the wind crying Mary!

Although each of the five amplifiers within the 50th Anniversary One Watt range are unique, the series also have some common features; they are all made with pride at our UK factory, and will only be so during 2012 making these amplifiers limited edition. Each model will be available as both a one watt combo incorporating an 8" or 10" Celestion speaker (varying from model to model), and a one watt head. Other common features include 8 and 16 ohm speaker outputs on the heads and combos, era correct cosmetic details, a commemorative rear panel plaque, and a unique low power switch on each of the units' rear panels, allowing you to instantly take the power from 1 watt to 0.1 watt for the ultimate Marshall bedroom volume

First thing you need to understand is that 1 watt, when it's done properly and put through a decent cabinet, is loud. You can drop the output down to 0.2 of a watt though and if you want to keep on the good side of your neighbours you'll have the voulme control set to about 3.

It's a qaulity amp. It's built to last and looks cooler than a cool thing on an iceberg. The chances are though that you are going to buy this because you're a Marshall fan and will buy one of these 50th Anniversary models even if it sounded like a cat with a red hot poker up his bot. It's a bonus though that it actually sounds pretty good.

If you keep it in good nick you're probably going to get back what you paid for it and, in a few years, maybe a little more as Marshall are producing these for this year only.

In conclusion. At £479 it's not cheap but it does sounds good, it looks good and it's going to keep its value.

Hello Lee and MR monkey lord

If your looking for a vintage 60s tone and dont want to rip your face off with the volume doing it .. this is the amp for you. I bought the combo. The amp has a .1 watt switch and 1 watt. At .1 you get a very usable tone and volume. You choose 1 watt and it is VERY loud at full volume. The speaker in the unit sounds very good.

If your looking for 60's tones think early acdc .. peter green . GAry moore.. then this is a good amp.

I ran the combo through my mesa 2x12 with vintage 30s . Wow im impressed :)

I play through a gibson sg 61 reissue and a Gibson sg jr with p90.

Great amp for recording or when you dont want your neighbors complaining about the volume level :)
