The PreSonus FireStudio provides professional audio I/O options, integrated mixing, and Class A preamps, bundled with Steinberg Cubase LE and PreSonus ProPak Software.
The FireStudio from PreSonus is an 26-in/26-out FireWire recording interface containing 8 PreSonus Class A mic preamps. The FireStudio has MIDI In/Out , S/PDIF In/Out, word clock, and 16-channels of 44.1/48K ADAT light pipe optical I/O or 8 channels of 96k SMUX ADAT I/O plus a Control Console 36x36x18 zero latency DSP matrix routing mixer. The Control Console is capable of creating up to nine stereo mixes and then routing to the FireStudio outputs for headphone mixes a differing Aux sends, creating custom mixes for all bandmembers as well as the recording engineer.
SMUX stands for Sample Multiplexing, a technology which allows you to trade fewer trasmitted audio channels for higher sampling rates. In this case 8 channels of ADAT rather than 16, at a sampling rate of 96k rather than 44.1/48k. Combined the with the speaker volume and mix control of the optional PreSonus MSR Monitor Station Remote, the FireStudio gives your studio advanced digital capabilities. Up to three FireStudio's can be daisy-chained giving you up to 54 inputs and outputs.
The FireStudio is an expanded FIREPOD with more I/O, and by adding the PreSonus MSR Monitor Station Remote really upgrades your DAW setup. The MSR is a complete surround-capable desktop remote control that gives you the ability to switch between Track, Mix, and Surround modes, as well as a talkback, dim, mute, mono, and dual headphone amplifiers. Track Mode delivers nine stereo mixes for monitoring in headphones during tracking, Mix Mode allows the user to switch between three sets of stereo monitors, and Surround Mode enables 5.1 surround control for mixing in surround sound.
The Windows XP and Macintosh compatible PreSonus FireStudio FireWire audio interface comes ready to record with Steinberg's Cubase LE 48-track 24-bit/96K recording software. Cubase LE is based on professional Cubase SX technology and features 4-track simultaneous recording, 48 total audio tracks, VST plug-ins and full VSTi support. Cubase LE combines powerful audio and MIDI recording features with professional editing and effects. Cubase LE and all included plug-ins are compatible with both Mac and PC systems. Also, Cubase LE sessions are completely upward compatible with both Cubase SX and Nuendo. So if you choose to upgrade your PreSonus FireStudio sequencer software in the future to Cubase SX or Nuendo, you can seamlessly upgrade all of your existing sessions when you upgrade your software.
