- been 30 odd years away from drums, - and as a lot of my money has been spent on instruments for the kids in recent years I thought that I would look into a bit of self indulgence for a change!
A few years back at the LIMS expo I had spent quite a bit of time on the Roland stand messing around on the kits, - as well as few competitors. Roland look to have it nailed, - not low end cheap but high quality hardware with very good quality module, - no gimmicks, - but a focus on what you need. - Went into the Andertons store one afternoon and spent some time playing different kits and ruled out 2 competitors products for different reason, - came away knowing that it was to be Roland, but needed a bit more online research to nail down which one. - This Andertons website is so well laid out it is easy to compare and very easy to order, - and thought I would spend a bit more money than I had originally intended and to justify that to myself I would take a bit of interest free credit, - a very easy process!
Kit arrived very quickly, - packed well (2 Roland boxes, 1 frame and the other pads cymbals brackets etc. Easy instructions, - and was together in no time. Really well laid out wiring. Playing the kit...It is great, - okay a month in and I am still fiddling with my snare position but that is down to me and the many years away from playing! At least all of the drums and cymbals are easily adjustable for position, - the snare having a really good ball/socket joint! - Snare and h-hat have surprisingly good feel to them. The sound module is superb, - enough kits and enough adjust-ability of each head/cymbal. I did think that I would play more through my amp but find that most of the time I have I-pood plugged in with a playlist setup and run through the tracks playing along with headphones, - can easily find a few hours have gone by!
Overall this is a 5star kit, - and purchased at a great price, - it has upgrade-abilty should I ever get back to the standard I was many years ago.
Great kit, great price, great service!
