A big step up from my TD3 bought from Andertons a while back. Got the TD9 at a great price and the module has far more to it than just improved sounds and editing. The playalong facility with the inbuilt tunes is excellent as you can vary the tempo of the tunes. Also being able to record your own playing is really useful in terms of analysing your drumming. Only slight criticism is the size of the tom pads which forces you to be much more accurate with strikes onto the toms. Overall fab.

After several weeks of checking specs and watching endless you-tube videos I opted for the Roland TD9-KX2 as it was in my opinion the best mid priced kit available for the money. My original budget was £1k, but with 'mesh heads' and a 'real hi-hat' it was well worth spending the extra dosh.

I placed the order on-line just after mid day and it arrived about 24 hours later. It all worked straight out of the box without any set up problems or trigger issues (one of the main reasons why I opted for Roland).

Just one minor gripe - the metronome cannot be routed away from the main outputs, it would be nice if it could be routed to the headphone outlet only. Perhaps Roland can address this issue in a future software update. If anyone knows of a way around this I would be very interested to hear from them.

Apart from the metronome issue - excellent.

Truly excellent. The build quality of this kit is particularly impressive, previously I owned an Alesis DM5 Pro kit (which was also excellent for the money) however this Roland kit completely puts the Alesis to shame. Having realistic drum skins give you the ability to play an electric kit as if you are playing an acoustic, it's a truly exemplary musical experience. This kit is also surprisingly quiet (not silent) but far quieter than the cheaper alternatives.

A truly excellent buy, a must have for drummers of all experience levels.

What can I say? It's a Roland, supprisingly easy to use, feels like an acoustic kit without upsetting the neighbours!

Solid set up. Mesh heads gives fantastic feel, real hardware inproves playability as well as ability to edit the kits and individual instruments almost endlessly. Personally would prefer more "proper" kits rather than industrial sounds etc, but they do add an element of fun.
