Bought the Roland TD-9K2 a couple of months back and have been playing it almost every day.
I love the response of the fabric material of the Roland pads, compared to other brands rubber pads – it feels so much more natural to play. The cymbals have multiple sensor spots which you get to learn where to hit quite easily as well.
The drum 'brain' is very intuitive, and the scrolling selector knob is easy to use, specially when you want to quickly browse through the kits while you play.
Another handy feature is the scope/click which allows you to check visually (scope) if you are playing on time or not. Being primarily a guitar player I found the scope feature very useful to learn drum parts and ensure that I stay on time...
The play along tracks sound a bit too robotic to me, but still are a great feature to practice since you can decide what instruments you want to mute while you play along with the track.
Overall it's a great piece of kit, I feel I haven't explored it to its full potential, but at the same time I know it doesn't have too much more of what I need – so I'm glad I stuck to my budget.
By the way, Andertons have offered a great service and it was honestly the best price I found around for the kit. So much so, I'm back here looking for an audio interface to record my guitar/voice and of course some drum parts too!
