The TD9K has been a flagship kit in the Roland Electronic drum range. It provided high end sonic capabilities, plus great feel and rigidity. Now Roland have updated the TD9k to the TD9K2, which has all these things plus mesh heads for the toms, and improved kick and cymbal pads for the best response and articulation on a V-Tour so far!

The TD9K2 is a great intermediate V-Drum kit that will suit the home or studio, and that is strong enough and compact enough to go on tour too!

Don't forget the accessories!

The Roland TD9K2 does not come with a stool, a bass drum pedal, sticks or headphones. If you already have a drum kit, then chances are you'll have all these items anyway, but if you're starting from scratch you'll need to buy these extra bits in order to get going. Any stool, kick drum pedal, headphones & sticks will work with the TD9K2, but here are some links to some of the basic options you might need.

Here's what Roland say about the TD9K2

I started drumming with a roland HD1 then moved to a full acoustic due to lack of feel with the kick pedal. I was interested with TD range and felt that the TD-9K2 fitted the bill on all levels, useability, flexibilit,y cost, range and utilisation of space. I have to say I was not dissapointed. Everything the "blurb" from Roland says about the kit is accurate, from initial set up to first play right through to recording. The ability to create your own kit that has tuneability and sensitivity is amazing. One of the first things I did was to recreate my acoustic kit as I had spent Months getting the sound I wanted. I was able to do this with the TD-9K2 accurately within an hour. The greatest benefit is the ability to continue playing late into the night without disturbing the wife and the neighbours with just a set of headphones. Personnaly I think it is the best kit in the Roland range. The cost in comparrison to a good accoustic could be debated but the benefits, the feel of the mesh heads and the new kick take a lot of beating (no pun intended). Money well spent.

This is a great electronic kit. My son and decided to upgrade from our Roland HD-1 to a kit with mesh heads. This was not cheap but it had the best features and playability. It is still quite compact, which suits us as we don't have room to have my acoustic kit out in the house. There are lots of interesting kits, sounds including orchestral percussion and you can easily edit the kits. I have enjoyed the onboard practice songs, which you can play along to with your choice of kit - cool jazz with a heavy metal drum sound, anyone?
