Vox JamVox Audio Interface

JamVOX is an integrated monitor and software system that extracts the guitar from any MP3 and plugs you into the mix of their favorite bands.

JamVOX gives guitarists instant access to dozens of legendary amps and effects all in one easy to use "drag and drop" software interface. Revolutionary Guitar XTracktion (GXT) technology lets you remove the guitar part of your favorite song with the push of a button.

Best of all, you can then take the lead yourself with instant rock star tone! Alternatively, you can extract or isolate the guitar part, slow down the tempo, and practice any style of music without changing the pitch.

JamVOX includes authentic software models, or recreations, of 19 famous guitar amps and 54 vintage and modern effects, so you'll be able to perfectly reproduce the sounds of your favorite guitarists. It also comes with a dedicated full-range USB monitor speaker, so there's no need for complex wiring or any specialized knowledge of computer music. A two-CD 28-song bundle of guitar play-along tracks of famous songs, courtesy of Hal Leonard Corporation, is also included (see table below).

Vox JAMVOX

JamVOX features

  • Revolutionary new GXT (Guitar XTracktion) function lets you cancel or extract the guitar part of an existing song.
  • 19 famous guitar amps and 54 effect units ranging from vintage to modern are provided as software.
  • Easy-to-use "drag and drop" interface enables guitarists to create their "dream guitar rig" without any advanced knowledge of amps or effects. Sound famous fast!
  • A music player feature with convenient functions for jam sessions or practice.
  • Import music files to jam along with from your favorite CDs, music library or MP3 player.
  • A dedicated USB monitor speaker is included, and there's no need for complex wiring or specialized knowledge of computer music.

It would get 4* for product and 2* for software support [which is a BIG part of the product] so i setlled on 3*!

Interesting product spoiled by all the diddling and patching and searching the internet for solutions on forums. It seems to rely on Apple not altering their OS - which is never going to happen! So, with OS10.6.8 it crackles and hisses like the worst jack plug connection and trashed speaker you have heard until you alter the sample rate from 44.1 to 48 - then it is a lot more acceptable. But then anything you import runs at the wrong speed, so you have to find the calculation online to alter the speed of the imported file to make it A=440hz. Then if you want to slow it down you have to use that as your base speed not 100%

Come on VOX pull your finger out - there are kids doing apps in their bedrooms that are responding faster to Apple's constant changes!!

Andertons great service; City Link not so much - they are the single worst courier company that deliver to my house.

A very good piece of kit - however I also bought the Boss Eband JS8 and I prefer the Boss. Probably not surprising as the Boss was 3 times the price of the JamVox. All in all for the price I would recommend.

I've had a month now to get to grips with this little device from Vox & what a superb experience it has been. Really simple to use (even for a non tech head like me) with a great array of tones from the major makes of guitar amps & pedals out there. You can record with it or jam along to the included backing tracks. The list really is too long to mention in this brief review. The small 3" speakers are never going to sound like a fully cranked Marshall or as sweet as a Fender, but stick some headphones on & you really won't care. Vox are on to a winner here. Do yourself a favour - nip out, try it out then buy one. At this price it's a no brainer!

Great practice tool and loads of fun! A good range of amp and FX simulations to enable a wide diversity of guitar sounds to be obtained; ability to change song pitch to avoid retuning guitar, and to slow tempo, loop song sections and extract or remove solos to help learn guitar parts and practice them with your favourite bands. An added bonus is that the JamVox can be used as an interface for your DAW software to record guitar using the amp/FX simulations!

Without doubt JamVox is one of the best audio interfaces on the market. The download from the set up disc to laptop was smooth and trouble free. The transfer of music from laptop to the JamVox is one of the easiest I've used (this includes itunes, JamVox on-line and Windows media player tracks).

With some headphones plugged in you can play at high volume without disturbing the neighbours! A little tweaking of the mixer unit on the laptop was required to stop an appreciable humming/buzzing sound from the built in speakers/or your headphones when trying to play along with a downloaded track, but once done the JamVox is actually a very good piece of kit. Writing down the settings helps set it up quicker next time you play.

There are endless combinations of amplifier/effects pedals, some superb and others very subtle in difference. Each can be adjusted, though of course you have to use your computer mouse to adjust. There are drum loops and a metronome, plus tuner, and the guitar pickups can be made to change from say single coil to humbucker, etc. Everything can be recorded for future reference.

Two play along discs are also included (1960's - 70's and 1980's - 90's). The GXT technology enables you to remove vocals from a track, or the lead guitar, etc, though it takes a lot of practice to get it accurate. Lead guitar can also be removed from the track and varied in pitch or tempo to enable you to practice the piece. All in all a very good investment for less than £100, and no exterior amplifier is required!

Very nice bit of kit, feels very sturdy & well made not as plastic as i was expecting/fearing easy to install, easy to use, sounds really good, good for blasting out Spotify music too. Only one complaint cant use speaker as a stand alone monitor, ie I would occasionally have liked to able to plug it into my multi effects box, without going through the computer. apart from that really pleasantly surprised

Only managed an hour playing with it so far, but it's amazing. The quality of the preset tones are so much better than I expected and the sonic possibilities are almost endless. Haven't had a chance to explore all it can do yet, but it seems very straightforward to use. Every guitarist should have one!

Brilliant peice of kit! The jamVox is a well constructed monitor that sits nicely beside my laptop. I have found the software very easy to use and already, me and my son have recorded loads of our own tracks using the different amp and pedal combinations. The sound is affected by the guitar you use so the digitisation of the signal does not spoil it at all, and infact, comapring the sound of the "similar" patch to my own gigging rig, they are actually remarkably close.

The "song" presets are perfect - just like the record.

Downside - well there is alwyas something - its a shame that a footswitch was not included as that means extra purchases to get the absolute most from this equipment, but look on the bright side, thats my Christmas list sorted.

Overall, this product has done Vox proud and I will certainly get another when my lad goes to Uni, just to keep us both practising.
