SUMMER 2011 UPDATE
We've just received the last of our Marshall AFD100 back order - that means there are no more being made by Marshall. This really is your last chance to get one of these awesome amps. Watch the stock availability number on this page - when it reaches zero all the amps are gone - for good! Watch the video, love the sound, buy the amp - you won't regret it!

Limited Edition

Only 2300 of these amps will be made, signifying the 23 years since Appetite for Destruction was released. That's not many; and the number of amps we get will be very limited, so please let us know if you want to secure one as soon as possible.

We recommend a 1960AV or 1960BV cab (or one of each!) to go with the AFD100. In fact, the "Vintage" version of the 1960 is supposedly the cab Slash himself chose to pair up with his signature head.

The AFD100 Story

When you ask anyone to think of seminal rock albums, Appetite for Destruction by Guns 'n' Roses almost always comes near the top of the list. The coming together of 12 great rock songs, and Axl Rose's incredible vocals took the rock 'n' roll world by storm. And what was it that gelled it all together? Well - it was the genius guitar work of the legend that is Slash.

One of the key parts of the Appetite For Destruction sound is Slash's incredible guitar tone that rock bands struggle to match today. The man himself largely attributes this to the amp he used on those recording sessions - a legendary 100w Pre-Master Volume 70s Marshall that he allegedly rented then loved so much that he told the rental company it had been stolen!

Sadly, the amp indeed was stolen from Slash just a few years later, and ever since then, the whereabouts of this mysterious amp have never been fully ascertained.

Enter Marshall in 2010. On a mission to recreate the incredible tones that we heard for the first time all these years ago, top Marshall designers took up the challenge of redesigning the amp, based on one of the most notable Marshalls - the JCM800. Over a number of months Marshall and Slash liaised closely and now the result is an amp which Slash is confident reproduces the tone and character of the AFD amp that achieved rock legend status all those years ago.

Marshall are calling it the AFD100.

I was lucky enough to get hold on one of the last of the AFD's through andertons, I think only 3-5 was shipped to sweden so I was really happy when I found andertons so I could get hold of this amazing amp.

Yes, I'm a huge slash fan and that is what made me buy it in the first place however it you can play almost any classic rock you want on it. The looks of it is really nice accroding to me with the aluminum front panel it's unique put not flashy, Overall I'm very satisfied with this amp and since I live in Sweden Andertons even checked so it would work in my country, My delivery was made by UPS and it was a test run by andertons, it worked flawless I was able to track every movement of my order and I got a phone call before it got delivered. I will surely buy more stuff from andertons.

i have had the AF100 for around 3weeks now and it sounds amazing, totally reliable, powerful and stylish to look at. i found it really good value for oney and would recomend it to anybody looking for that "appetite" tone , although the amp is not 1 dimentional and sounds great taking on a range of genres, not just hard rock.

I bought this head and as expected has an amazing tone and a KILLER sound! If you're into Slash, this is a non go item. Plus the excellent custumer care given to me makes me buy over and over again. 5 stars *****

    Excellent customer service and delivery!!

Amp arrived in perfect condition. Really happy with purchase.

Don't be put off by the negative forum posting and the vibe regarding this being a 'signature', model and therefore not a Marshall in the traditional sense!

This is essentiall a JCM800 with a few gain alterations to create a 1959 sound on the AFD channel.

Any and I mean any classic Marshall sound can be derived from this amp.... early Clapton and Jimmy Page stuff right up to 80's hard rock. Boosted with an Ibanez Tubescreamer reissue this amp can be pushed into massive gain territory.

The built in attenuator allows you to really get the amp cooking like they used to in the 60's and 70's without drastically altering the tone.

This is not a one trick pony...if you like Slash great...if you don't I wouldn't be put off...get this amp or when you hear one live you will seriously regret it!

If you are looking to upgrade or step into the world of valve amps get this..it will make you a better player as the touch sensitivity is astounding....it will also make you remember what the volume control on the guitar is for lol....brings your sound right back to light crunch and overdrive for more subdued work then you can crank your guitar to 10 and get the saturated singing lead tones for those ripping solos!!

Every inch the creature I had hoped for. Taught and muscular, the AFD100 is more than the sum of its parts, displaying a highly articulate sense of depth and separation. Paired with my 70's Gibson Les Paul custom, it is hard not to be highly impressed with what is a contradiction in terms... an amp which delivers high levels of gain but retains its musical edge at all times.

In terms of the specifics of sonic tinkering, I am looking forward to seeing how the AFD100 reacts to different cabs, but for the time being all I care about is playing... the essence of a truly great amp.

There was a lot of hype over this amp and, for once, here is a product that lives up to it!

My initial worries over what is essentially an amp without a clean channel proved to be pretty unfounded - drop the volume on the guitar and it cleans up nicely. OK, it will never match the sparkly shimmer of the clean on a Mesa MkV, but it works well all the same.

Both modes (34 and AFD) provide a wealth of very useable tones and, although you will NEVER sound EXACTLY like Slash, you will get close enough to make you smile.

The best feature of all is the power control - sitting in front of a full Marshall stack with everything set at 6 (that's where Slash runs his rig) should blow you off your stool but with the power turned down to 0.1W, you can talk over it! Best of all, it still sounds like it would on full - just MUCH quieter!

Overall, I'm very impressed - if the clean ever becomes an issue, I'll get an aby pedal and run two heads with the cabs in stereo!
