Avid Pro Tools 9 is now an open platform piece of software that opens up a huge number of creative recording possibilities and offers a stable platform that audio engineers the world over rely on every day to record the world's greatest musicians and movie soundtracks.
The one thing that most people will now love about Pro Tools is that you can now use any interface that you want with Pro Tools 9 software! That includes all the latest Avid Interfaces and any core audio or ASIO enabled interface (so almost anything on the market). Pro tools 9 records up to 32 simultaneous channels, and can have up to 128 tracks as standard (compared to 48 in Pro Tools 8).
What's more, for mobile production, Pro Tools 9 allows you to work anywhere - you don't need any interface at all for the software to run, so you can create music with your internal sound hardware.
Other long awaited developments to Pro Tools include ADC (automatic delay compensation), multitrack beat detective, open format (e.g. OMF) support and Digibase Pro. These are all features that come as standard with PT9.
