Reviews

  • "Solid MIDI Keyboard; Good Hands-on Control; Very Easy to use; Lightweight"
  • "Negatives: No mains Power Supply option, no templates for Live or Sonar at time of writing"
  • "Where it excels is in the implementation of the DAW-Specific control features... Oxygen insures [the DAW templates] work well with no hassle and only minimal setup. As such, DAW control is a breeze and this keyboard is a joy to use. If only everything in life was this simple."
  • "Verdict: A great little MIDI keyboard that stands out from the crowd thanks to straightforward and efficient DAW-control features - 8/10"

Hollin Jones - Music Tech Magazine - February 2010

Streamlined Session Control

Featuring eight assignable knobs, nine assignable sliders, dedicated transport controls and track up/down buttons, Oxygen 49 gives you total control over your session-allowing you to stay engaged in the creative flow of recording and mixing music rather than being interrupted by the constant back and forth between QWERTY keyboard and MIDI controller. DirectLink mode automatically maps Oxygen 49 controls to common DAW parameters*- while factory presets provide instant mapping to popular virtual instruments including Xpand! 2, Hybrid, Velvet, Strike, Oddity, ImpOSCar and MiniMonsta. Use the dedicated Select buttons to quickly switch MIDI channels and presets for deep tactile control over multitimbral hardware and software instruments. Interfacing a MIDI controller with your software doesn't get any easier than this.

Professional Quality

M-Audio pioneered the category of mobile MIDI keyboard controllers, and we continue to be the best-selling name in the game. In fact, M-Audio controllers are used by more professional producers and players than any other brand on the market. Thanks to continued innovation over the course of nearly a decade, you'll find that the Oxygen 49 controller has a solid, reliable build-and puts as much musicality into the keyboard as it does into the complement of other MIDI controls.

Pro Tools Compatible

The Oxygen 49 MIDI controller offers out-of-the-box integration with Pro Tools software the industry standard DAW found in professional, project and personal studios around the world. With DirectLink, the Oxygen 49 controls instantly map to key parameters in the Pro Tools Mixer, Edit and Transport windows as well as the powerful suite of virtual instruments bundled with Pro Tools. Together, Oxygen 49 and Pro Tools software provide streamlined workflow in a formidable system with tons of interface options and industry-standard file compatibility.

This is fantastic, I hooked it up on my imac instantly and connected it to pro tools with no snags really.

its simple to use, great weight and size, Im sure it can be used to a far more then what I use it for.

I use it for my vst instruments

I would defo say use this with protools and a mac, its brilliant

Brilliant, does what it says on the box. The only downside is that if your not using Pro-Tools, certain features/automation controls won't work automatically with other DAW's.

Great midi controller/keyboard otherwise, recommended purchase.

Having well over 20 synthesizers, space is becoming tight, not to mention the expense of updating my collection.

With the change in computer processing power over the years, along with the available applications, many of which are free, I have found many VST and stand alone copies of the vintage synthesizers I currently own and also desire.

The fact that I can now have dozens of synths on my laptop is a great advantage. All that is necessary to enjoy them to their max is a midi controller and a pair of headphones.

Having used a midi interface and a full size synth in the past to control the computer, I find this impractical to cart around.

I also do an awful lot of my music in front of the telly, so space is a premium. This is the reason why I went for the Oxygen.

I initially thought of the 25 key version to begin with but, already having a 25 key micro controller, I do find myself running out of keys and am constantly stabbing at the octvae button.

At not that much more that the 25 key version, the 49 key controller seemed ideal.

It is reasonably compact in size and weighs very little. So little in fact I can comfortably sit in front of the telly with it on my knee, and the laptop on the coffee table.

Odd I know, but I have always had the telly picture in the back ground, regardless; studying, reading etc.

The advantage with the Oxygen is that it has user definable contorls with which to control your DAW. Not necessary, but important if you get fed up with constantly reaching for the laptop keyboard.

It has has direct USB connection, so no need for an additional Midi interface as well.

I also find the action very good for the price.

I have spent the summer watching the festivals on the telly and have noted a number of keyboard players now going for a laptop/contorller option; with a band recently on the telly, no names, using the Oxygen 49 key controller.

So, if you are looking for a controller and don't want to break the bank, you can do a lot worse.

The M-audio Oxygen keyboard is actually one of the best midi controllers I've used. The latency is unnoticable and the weight of the keys are fine. However if you are a hardcore pianist I would recomend this product. The knobs and faders make everything in my Daw so much easier and the direct link and automapping features are excellent. It can function with alot of my audio untis on logic 8 which is very convienient as I dont have to refer to logic to do alot of things now.The only bad things about the keybaord are that it didn't have drum pads as I use the mpc alot and the weight of the keys. All in all the keyboard is great and I am happy with my purchase.
