Akai LPK25 Laptop Keyboard Controller

The Akai LPK25 Laptop Keyboard Controller is a genius piece of kit. Whenever and wherever inspiration strikes, you can pop the LPK25 out of your bag and be making music with virtually any audio software in seconds. The LPK25 is small enough to fit in a backpack or laptop bag so portability is deffinately a plus feature. In a nutshell its a USB-MIDI controller with 25 velocity-sensitive mini-keyboard keys and an arpeggiator for automatically stepping through the notes of a chord in sequence. There's a sustain button, octave up and down controls, tap tempo, and four programmable memory banks for comprehensive control.

Looking for an easy to use, portable USB/MIDI controller??? Look no further!

Here's what Akai have to say about the Akai LPK25;

Melodic performance in the palm of your hand.

The LPK25 laptop performance keyboard is a USB-MIDI controller for musicians, producers, DJs and other music creators. It measures less than 13 inches across and weighs less than a pound to easily fit into a laptop case, backpack or messenger bag for extreme portability.

Keyboard players who want to work with software on their computer will find that the LPK25 gives their laptop the keys they need to express themselves anywhere.

The LPK25 is a scaled-down relative to the MPK series of keyboard performance controllers. The diminutive keyboard is made up of 25 miniature, velocity-sensitive keyboard keys with synth action.

The LPK25 contains an arpeggiator, which steps through chords automatically, assisting musicians with creating quick melodic ideas. Sustain, octave up and down and tap tempo controls round out the LPK25's easy-to-learn layout.

The LPDK25 works plug and play with Mac and PC and requires no software driver installation or wall power for operation. It has four memory banks for programming and recalling settings appropriate to different software programs you use.

Create melodic and harmonic riffs in seconds, anywhere, with the LPK25.

Nice little keyboard. It would have got 5 stars if there had been some printed instructions with it. With some help from Andertons (thanks Alex) I was able to get it up and running with my software. I am not a pianist but have been able to use it for basic midi stuff, and it's working well. The size makes it very portable.

Good product at a very good, and competitive price, This Midi keyboard controller has 3 octaves C - C, a sustain button, Octave changers and an arpeggiator, these buttons light up orange when pressed, this is good on the Octaves especially to show you are higher or lower than middle C octave,

The Keys feel quite light, but are velocity sensitive, which is great.

Overall good compact product for a producer on a budget.

    5/5

Great mini usb keyboard to carry easily in your bag, good keyboard response for its size with octave up and down controls, some nice extra features like the sustain button and the built in programmable Arpeggiator. Only thing I found wrong with it was the poor choice of dark red lettering for the keyboard settings on the black plastic case, hard to make out in most lighting conditions although once you program it using the software editor you probably won't need to use these much anyway. Overall a good buy if you need a very portable keyboard or are limited for space in your bedroom studio.

Great little keyboard, with built in arpeggiator, this is ideal for putting down ideas without having to plug in your main controller, the Keys are much better than a rival nano size keyboard i wont mention ;). All in all easy to setup and use, I would recommend the LPK25 to anybody with a laptop or desktop who find desk space at a premium.

Extremely light and portable and works great as soon as its plugged in! Keys are by no means too small as i had feared and the arpeggiator works great. It has fell off my desk a few times but never suffered any damage. Only wish is that the USB connection was on the back instead of the side as sometimes it makes it awkward overall a great simple midi keyboard!

Its small size is its greatest feature - wonderfully portable, great for when you can't take a big 49 key-er with you and don't want to use the shoddy "Caps Lock" keyboard in logic.

Arpeggiator is a nice touch too. Plug in and play, keys don't feel amazing but you can't really do much with the form factor that its at. Compared to the Korg Nanokey's "laptop keys" I much prefer the Akai's keys. This will definitely be in my laptop bag when I'm out and about.

Yes, this really does fit easily into your laptop bag along with your Laptop! Excellent build quality, and the little keys actually feel pretty good. Truly plug and play, works with Reason 4 (it doesn't automatically recognise it, but it can be selected as a generic midi controller). Good velocity sensitivity, never misses a soft note, octave buttons and sustain button are a boon, if only there were little pitch bend and mod wheels / strips this would be perfect. Also, the buttons light up from the sides only so you don't get blinded by them if playing / recording in a dark room. It fulfills its purpose by letting you be creative wherever you are with your laptop.

I required a midi keyboard for use with logic and sibelius. I went into the store and within 5 minutes of walking in, the very helpful, insightful, friendly and competent staff had listened to my needs, matched my needs to my budget and suggested this model. For the price you cant go wrong with this! It has everything a more expensive model would have in a package that is half the size! Within 5 seconds of plugging it in a was half way through my project! It just works! Touch sensitive keys are VERY responsive making it easy to convey expression, feeling and emotion through midi instruments. Same goes for sibleius, a program that normally causes me nothing but grief. 3 seconds to activate the keyboard in preferences and away I went! My main love has to be the size. It takes up literally NO space on my desk and since I have a black macbook it even colour coordinates! So to wrap this up, if your on a budget (money and space) look no further than this keyboard. If you want the best price, best professional advice and best customer service look no further than andertons! Thank you Brad, Gav, Matt, Al, Trist and Jamie!
