Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus

Another quality line up of pedals from accross the pond. Voodoo Labs specialise in offering high quality, hand built pedals & power supplies. The Pedal Power 2 Plus is a must for any guitarist using a pedal board. Not only does it have 4 regulated 9v outputs, it has 2 "line 6" type higher voltage outputs, and (this is our favourite feature!) it has two more 9v outputs with variable "SAG" control. This means you can take your Fulltone (or other quality overdrive pedal) and play around with the voltage going into the pedal! If you read the forums, everybody talks about how different power supplies and batteries can change the tone of your pedal - now you can be in total control & get exactly the tone that you want. How "Tone Freak" is that/P>

Here's what Voodoo Lab say about the Pedal Power 2 Plus

AMAZING TONE STARTS WITH PEDAL POWER!
"I've wrestled with various store-bought and custom-made power supplies over the years, but this was the first time I was able to connect everything in minutes and get great results without hum or profanity" - Guitar Player Magazine

Filter, regulate, isolate, and protect!
Pedal Power 2 Plus does it, and does it well, because any less will degrade your pedal's performance. Players everywhere upgrade to Pedal Power 2 Plus because it powers what conventional power supplies can't. Pedal Power 2 Plus is hand made in the U.S.A., comes complete with cables, detachable AC power cord, a 5-year warranty, and simply makes you sound better!

The PP2+ does exactly what is says. It provides clean regulated power to your pedals. I bought the PP2+ in conjunction with a Pedaltrain-2 board after deciding I wanted to integrate 2 exisiting vintage pedals (battery only)and possibly further pedals that require non-9V power. I was also fed up with the occasional problems resulting in daisychain power feeds and occasional hum in electrically noisy environments. The PP2+ might be considered expensive when compared to cheaper alternatives, but I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for.

Bought this with the Pedaltrain 2 (softcase) absolutely love it. mounted onto the pedaltrain with ease and and works perfectly. The included cables are at a great length and good quality. Its just one of those products thats works which is exactly what I love! I looked at the manual cause it all felt so simple, flicked through and realised that was it as I dont own any pedals with "special" power requirements.

If you need a power supply for your pedals. this is a no brainer!

This product has given me just what I need, its compact and fits great with the pedaltrain. No more need to spend ridiculous amounts of money of 9v batteries anymore. As a gigging musician this product is great.

This is the best power supply on the market.

Having tried all the others being unable to afford the voodoo labs one, i can honestly say i wasted my money before. No noise, no fuss, just power to your pedals.

Had humming issues from my germanium treble booster interacting with my other pedals with my T-Rex Classic, this solved those. The SAG feature is great if you use old school transistor based fuzzes. Great power supply, expensive but it is all quality.

10/10. Wow. This little beauty keeps all my pedals running at peak efficiency - constantly - and has a major impact on my overall sound. It can run all my stomps and even let me get that amazing Tubescreamer sound, on slightly under 9v setting. Hands down the best power supply, all inclusive with leads and cable. A bit pricey you may think? Well, no more money wasted on batteries and no more pedals dying when I need them most. Recommended for home practice to giging players, Ace. Thanks Andertons and Voodoo Lab!

This is the only pedal bard Power supply I've used, so can't compare it to anything else, however after reading up it seemed the one to go for, particularly as I have a pedaltrain 2 which this fits very nicely underneath. Very pleased I did as it powers all my pedals with no problems or hum. Not the cheapest by any means but quality rarely is. Recommended.

I am a gigging guitarist in a rock covers band, i use a number of effects pedals and i was experiencing horrific levels of feedback with a low budget type pedal powering brick. purchased the Voodoo lab pwer plus two, end of problems, can`t praise it enough! it is pricey, but if you care about your tone etc with no noise this is the one!!! Andertons as ever providing great service.

Excellent product. Provides a very good supply of power with no noise inteference. The switchable outputs are very useful. I just wish it had more than 8 outputs. This is the biggest power supply available from voodoo labs, and I still need to daisy chain pedals together. The only way to get round this is to buy another one, but that would be VERY expensive. It fits ideally underneath the pedaltrain pedal board too.

The Voodoolab Pedal Power 2 Plus has put my days of having flat batteries in my guitar pedals behind me.

Never again will I need to leave a favoured pedal out of my line so that another can have the newest battery!

Come to think of it it makes financial and environmental sense to banish the battery altogether.

Even if you want to simulate the effect that an expiring battery can offer to an effect circuit such as distortion PP2+ has a couple of outputs with SAG (variable voltage) pots to achieve exactly that.

It's built like a tank with eight independantly isolated outputs and has an air of quality about it, and I like the useful options the included cables make possible.

To round my review off I would like to suggest a visit to the forum - yes it does sound a bit sad to have a forum devoted to powering pedals, but nontheless very useful information with a wide knowledgebase on many esoteric pedals and methods by which PP2+ can power.

    http://www.voodoolab.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=7&sid=1cac185aa16dcae9e6fc829bfd4880f1

Would I buy a PP2+ it again if it were stolen or lost? Absolutely yes!

This is a great bit of gear. One of the best of its kind on the market. Had a T-rex, but this is simply way better, as there is never any hum, and this is critical when touring as I do all over europe, and with quite a complex pedal board to boot.

Also, great help from Andertons staff whilst ordering; happy to have discovered this retailer!

If you're using just a couple of 9v analogue effects (eg overdrive, wah) then batteries are an easy and convenient option. However, batteries don't last long with some digital effects (a digital delay can eat a 9v battery in less than an hour). Dedicated power units may work for you but if you want a reliable, fuss-free solution then your best bet is to opt for a power supply specifically designed to power multiple effects pedals. The only serious choice, in my view, is the Pedal Power 2. Whilst more expensive than most other units, the PP2 is the most flexible option, allowing you to mix reverse polarity, 18v and regular polarity pedals using the same supply. As the outputs are isolated, sound quality is excellent (unlike the hum I got when I tried to use an almost as expensive power supply made by a Scandanavian competitor, which was clearly destined for Jurassic Park in comparison to the Voodoo Labs product). Beautifully made, it's no accident that you see PP2''s on just about everyone's boards.

Easy buy, if you want peace of mind. All isolated outputs = NO HUM. plus high output options and sag for fuzz pedals. Service from voodoo labs is top notch too. Plus, if Pete Cornish recommends it, it can't be bad!

I bought this in conjunction with a Pedal Train 2 pedal board because it fits neatly underneath. It came with loads of cables and powers all my pedals: Boss, CAE, MXR and Fulltone (at 18v) and it works seamlessly. It won't power my Electro Harmonix Holy Grail but it has got a courtesy ac output which I can use with the EH power pack. There's a reason why it's used by so many big names and it's an industry standard. It works so well that you don't have to think about it. Excellent.
