Ever wished that you had longer delay? This is the pedal of your dreams! Boss have made available 6.4 seconds of delay - count the seconds to 6, that's a looooong time...

What Boss say about the DD7 Guitar Effects Pedal

The Boss DD-7 takes the best features from its predecessors and expands the creative potential with Modulation Delay mode, classic modelled Analogue Delay mode, external pedal control options, longer delay time, and more.

On the Boss DD-7 up to 6.4 seconds of delay time is available, a marked increase from its predecessor. In addition, Hold mode allows up to 40 seconds of input to be recorded for creating "sound-on-sound" performances.

The Boss DD-7 is equipped with two innovative new delay modes. Modulation Delay provides chorus-flavoured sounds. Analogue Delay offers a modelled simulation of the classic BOSS DM-2, beloved for its characteristic warmth.

For hands-free control of the DD-7, an external footswitch and Expression pedal (sold separately) can be used. Tap tempo can be controlled from an external footswitch, while delay time, feedback, and effect level can be changed on the fly via Expression pedal.

Create amazing effects with the Boss DD-7's stereo output, such as spatial audio sweeps via true stereo panning. You can also use the stereo outputs to create separate dry and wet signal paths - handy for recording and live-performance control.

Specifications

  • Expanded delay time, up to 6.4 seconds
  • Modulation Delay mode offers natural, chorus-type sounds
  • Analogue Delay mode models the classic warm BOSS DM-2 analogue delay sound
  • Tap tempo controllable via external footswitch
  • Delay time, feedback, and effect level can be controlled via external Expression pedal (sold separately)

This pedal is really great, It has improved my playing because you can practice over your own loops. It is great for writing music also, and obviously the delay sounds are all cool.

Fisrt impressions are very good. Currently working through the instruction book and trying out all the options using 2 amps.

I'll use it at a gig this week to see how it goes.

Bit concerned that the black position markers on the blue knobs won't be easy to see in dim lights.

A very good delay pedal with many settings (which to be honest I haven't yet played with several months on as I bought it to replace a cheaper pedal for a specific purpose).

    Well worth the money.

A few days after christmas, and after months of anticipation, i set off to Andertons to buy the Boss DD-7 digital delay pedal. I'd read some very good reviews of it beforehand, and researched it extensively. When I bought the pedal, and I set off back home in my car with the pedal on my lap, I instantly tore open all the packaging, and cradled the pedal in my hands. It looked gorgeous, but, of course, that wasn't what mattered, it was the sound. I got home, plugged it in, and, my hands shaking with trepidation, strummed a chord on my guitar. I was immediately rewarded for all my days of excitement and anxiety from the second I heard a warm, harmonic slapback eminating from my amp. This delay pedal is possibly the best delay pedal I've ever used, immensly simple, diverse, durable and very reliable. It's pretty, well built, has very long delay times, a very easy to use hold system, and a very useful tap tempo. Set on an analogue mode, with a long delay time and about 4-6 delays, you get a vintage tone, diminishing steadily, but allows further notes to cut through the delays like a hot knife through butter. And then, you have the modulate delay, a very nice, modern setting which adds a tad bit of chorus to your sound. There are so many more modes, that are all just as good you'd expect from a boss compact pedal. Easy to use, just about 5 minutes after starting using it, I could coax everything from a cool slapback to Rush-esque spaceship sounds. A good quality casing and true hardwear bypass sealed the deal for me, and this is a pedal i'm proud to have on my pedalboard, one which i hope will stay with me for as long as I play, and hopefully for you, if you do choose to purchase one. Thanks for reading!

After selling my Multi FX pedals to buy top quality stand alone effects, my first investment was one of the best. From slap back delay to dotted eighth note solos, the pedal covers everything expected of a reverb pedal, keeping your guitars beautiful tone intact! Used as complete wet in the amp, minor tone suck is noticeable, but I always have my amp running with a little dry signal, and then the effects are impossible to distinguish. Engaging or disengaging the Pedal creates absolutely no pop/click or other annoying transition, oh what a joy when coming from multi effects!!! It’s expensive, but it is obviously of top build quality... and you get what you pay for.
