With an incredible 3 hours of looping time, the Boss RC-3 is Boss' most fully- featured compact loop station so far. Squeezing all the best features of their larger loop stations into a pedal that will slide into your gig bag at the end of each gig is no mean feat, but Boss have achieved it with a intuitive user interface making looping, and especially live sound on sound looping, easy for any musician.

Guitarists, bassists, keyboardists - in fact, all kinds of musicians - can use the RC-3 Looper and introduce another dimension into their live performances.

N.B. We recommend using a boss power supply (PSA230 or PSA240) with this item. Please add one to your basket from the "related items" section on this page.

Here's what Boss say about the RC3 Loopstation

3-Hours of Stereo Recording in a Stomp box

The RC-3 is powerfully equipped yet conveniently housed in a compact pedal. Enjoy up to three hours of stereo recording time, storage for 99 loops, a "real drums" rhythm guide, and USB 2.0 compatibility all in a small BOSS stomp box!

Features

  • Compact and powerful stereo stomp box looper
  • Massive internal memory with up to three hours of stereo recording time
  • 99 onboard memories for storing loops
  • USB 2.0 port allows you to connect to a PC and import/export WAV audio
  • Rhythm guide with real drums
  • Runs on a single 9-volt battery or optional AC power supply

Marathon Looping

The RC-3 provides three hours of stereo recording capacity direct to internal memory. Now you can record long phrases without worrying about memory. 99 memory locations let you save as many phrases or ideas as you can create. Guitarists who want to incorporate external stereo effects devices will appreciate the true stereo I/O on the RC-3.

Auto Record

The Auto Recording feature starts recording the moment you begin playing your guitar, or as soon as you start a connected audio player. Count-In mode gives you one-bar of rhythm before recording starts. You can Undo/Redo as you go. The sky's the limit with three hours of recording time!

Rhythm Guide

To keep your loops tight and in time, you can play along with one of the basic rhythm patterns in the RC-3's on-board library as you record. Ten types of rhythm types are provided, including Rock, Pop, Funk, Shuffle, R&B, and Latin. A dedicated knob lets you adjust the volume of the rhythm, and you can set the tempo incrementally or via tap tempo. You can also specify the time signature. When you save a phrase, the rhythm type and time signature will also be saved.

USB Connectivity

You can connect the RC-3 to your computer via a standard USB cable, and back up your RC-3 recordings to your computer for safekeeping. You can also load WAV files from your computer directly into the RC-3. The RC-3 accepts 16-bit/44.1kHz WAV files of up to 1.7GB in size.

AUX Input

In addition to recording your guitar or bass performances and turning them into playable loops, you can also record other external stereo audio sources via the RC-3's AUX IN. Sound from a digital-audio player connected to the AUX input, for example, can easily be recorded and made into a loop.

Specifications

Great for recording rythum then playing lead over the top. You can keep looping and make many recordings over and over, loads of fun. Entire band in living room! Small, compact great sound quality, can play one set of effects then loop different over top, great for clean rhythm with distorted lead.

Whenever I buy Boss I know I'm going to get a quality product. The RC3 Loopstation doesn't disappoint and has a typically bombproof build quality with elegantly laid out controls. Although the pedal is extremely powerful in what it does it is very simple to use and quick to learn. I really can't recommend the RC3 highly enough. Pure fun on my pedalboard!

the Boss RC3 Loopstation is a fairly intuitive and simple to use pedal

the sound quality of the loops stored and the internal memory size are easily the major selling points of the unit

there is good potential to lay down a few tracks on top of the other and still keep some overall clarity in the reporoduction

disappointingly enough, there only seems to be one usable drum loop out of the 10 provided

also, tempos can only be tapped in, and there is no option to have the tempo playing displayed in any way

overall a good purchase if not for the (lack of) drums machine features aforementioned, probably worth trying before buying

This thing is clever. Takes sum getting used to if you are not into pedals but worth persevering.

This is an awesome piece of kit, i wanted one for ages and it definitely lived up to my expectations. Sturdy and well made and incredibly easy to use, I think most musically minded people could work out basic functions without picking up the manual even if you had never used a pedal before. joins loops seamlessly and a huge amount of storage space. USB compatibility is great for very quickly getting recorded ideas onto your computer and straight into DAW. The only downside if at all is that it sucks juice from a battery pretty quickly so i would recommend using a power supply!

This is one of the best things you could buy as a practicing guitarist. Perfect for setting up chord progressions then practicing improvisation or stacking up tracks over the really good in-built drum tracks. Wish I'd bought it years ago! Except that it's only been out a couple of months !!

This little pedal comes with the usual Boss spec, i.e. it is bomb proof and has the looks.

This thing carries three hours of memory which when you look at the competition, it quite simply sits head above the rest. If you wanna loop for fun, jamming or live gigging, then you have to buy one.

Got the new RC3 looper as a jamming & ideas tool. It's so simple to use as well as having lots of little extra functions when you get in to it a little deeper.

    * I would like to point out to anyone getting this pedal make sure you have a good quality power source, power brick or an A/C that can provide 70ma. It will not work on the daisy chain from a TU2 and would not work on the A/C that I have for my other Boss pedals!

Recently I have found myself using the metronome and rhythm functions more for tightening up playing. This pedal great little tool that really has helped me both playing and making music!
