What Blackstar say about the HT Drive Guitar FX Pedal

By allowing infinite adjustment over the characteristics of the HT-DIST's tone control network, the patent applied for ISF circuit allows you to effectively design your own tone and find the sound in your head. Add to this the dynamics of the high voltage valve design and a no compromise speaker emulated output and this pedal is a classic amongst modern distortions.

Features

  • Genuine valve design
  • Operates at 300V HT
  • Cascaded valve gain stages
  • Responds like a valve amp
  • Unique enhanced tone controls
  • Exclusive Infinite Shape Feature (ISF)
  • Fully equipped for stage or studio
  • Speaker emulated output
  • High integrity buffered bypass
  • Power supply included
  • Silent switching

Solid metal high quality construction. You cant broke it.The sound is amazing - if you play classic rock and metal/Megadeth,ACDC/. The gain is not enough if you wanna play Pantera /have to change the valve/. Not so dynamic like valve amp, but very harmonic. Try it with Marshall Valvestate and Peavey Rage/cheap solid state amp/ - fantastic sound with both of them.Very good speaker simulation - emulated output.Superb sound and superb price / see Messa, Hughes and Ketner/.

Right, the DISTX is a real distortion box. With the gain right down you can you can squeeze out some dirty blues, but this pedal's designed to be seriously cranked , and no surprise that's what it does best. When you push this pedal you can go all the way to death metal, but still retain note clarity. The three band EQ lets you shape your sound like a lot of amps, and then the ISF dial gives you the sound of every other amp, you've pretty much got every heavy sound you can imagine. It's got an emulated output which is pretty good for recording, and it's built solid to last. The only bad points are that it takes about 10/15 mins to warm up to it's best sound, but really it's worth the wait. Finally the 16v power supply is pretty awkward for pedal boards, there's only one that I've found that can provide this power, so most likely you'll need an extra plug socket for the power supply. However for the sound produced by the extra power, it's a worthwhile compromise, I most strongly recommend, well worth the money.
