BOSS BD-2 BLUES DRIVER

The Boss BD2 is a pedal that has made an impact with many great players thanks to its great, transparent, tubey overdrive. This pedal is great for just pushing your amp into saturation, great for anyone playing the blues! But it also does a great "full on" distortion which is rich yet clear with all the notes of the chord clearly ringing through. If you are looking for a distortion which remains unmuddied at high gain - look no further than the BD2.

As you probably know, Boss pedals have a reputation for being built like brick outhouses! You can be pretty sure that however much you drop it, kick it, throw it and jump on it, it will still come back for more punishment! These pedals constantly survive the rigors of rock 'n' roll touring, and that's why they're seen at the feet of top touring pros everywhere. Reliability really can be affordable to all, and Boss are so sure that their compact stomps will last that they cover them with a full five year warranty.

Here's what Boss say about the BD-2

The BD-2 Blues Driver delivers the creamy, yet crunchy sound associated with great blues guitar. This popular pedal provides instant access to the kind of warm overdrive and emotive distortion usually reserved for 30-year-old tube amps.

Get the tone of a bluesy, vintage tube amp in a compact pedal capable of anything from warm overdriven sounds to full-on distortion. Leaves the subtle nuances of your playing intact.

This pedal was good for playing clean blues, but don't expect to hear the hollow blues tone from players such as Gary Moore. The need to have the contour & maybe some crunch on the amp made it impossible for me to use it in my signal chain and was only good to me as a booster. If your looking for something with a bite then this is not for you. But if your looking for the subtle addition to your clean tone then this is for you. A good pedal if used correctly with an amp or in a pedal board.

An excellent overdrive pedal, brilliant for blues and classic rock. I play an ash-body Strat through a Marshall MG15 amp, and it sounds beautiful. With the gain knob on full, you get a really nice rock 'n' roll tone perfect for the kind of chunky rhythm that I usually play. It's also great for the limited lead work I can play, can't say for anything too complex or fast. Turn the knob down and you can get a really subtle distortion that works great for just about anything where you don't need heavy distortion.

Oddly, my Ibanez AEL40 electro-acoustic also sounds great through this pedal, it sounds almost like a fuzz pedal. If you try this though, make sure you're sitting across the room and pointed away from your amp, feedback is a big issue.

I don't expect any hard rock or metal players to be looking at this page, but i would just say this pedal is not a metal pedal; you would be much better off with something like the ML-2 (which i also have)

Thanks, i hope this review was helpful
