The new DSL Series retains the classic Marshall valve tone (driven by EL34 and 6V6 valves) from amps like the JCM2000, but puts it into a series of modern amps that will suit nearly everybody's needs and, importantly, their budgets too. This DSL40C is a mid-sized combo within the new DSL range.

The new DSL 40w combo features a 12" Celestion 70/80 speaker and a pentode/triode switch which takes power output down by 50% making the DSL40C much more versatile in terms of where and when you can use it. The DSL40C can be driven hard in a gig or rehearsal setting but it isn't so overpowering that you can't use it for a quick jam at home too.

I've bought a lot of gear from Andertons over the last few months and needed the DSL 40C Combo to give me the lovely warm valve amp tones that my Les Paul demanded, I wasn't disappointed. The sustain you would expect from a Les Paul comes through beautifully smooth and a note will hold for as long as you want to apply vibrato to it. Parisienne Walkways eat your heart out.

The DSL 40C is a versatile amp ideal for gigging. the sound is similar to a JCM800 but with extra features and additional gain stages which makes it a hell of a lot more fun. the 20 watt half power switch is useful as it boosts the gain on channel 1 but takes out some of the raw 800 depth. so i use that for practising and 40 watt option for gigging. the only daft thing about this amp is that the footpedal has two switches. one does channel selection and the other does reverb.... what they should have done is a gain stage selector. then you could select your channel and then select your gain stage.. this is particularly annoying if you have a song which has clean, crunch and lead parts. i understand there is a minor mod which can be done to fix this.
