The ID series is set to take the affordable amp market by storm, offering supreme features and awesome sound at a price you will hardly believe. The ID Series is designed to raise the benchmark in the amplifier market by offering guitarists an amp with incredible effects and versatile tonal control, with an underlying solid sound foundation which Blackstar have always said is of the utmost importance.

The main features of the ID Series amps include advanced valve emulation technology, and a high level of versatility thanks to Blackstars programmable interface. Adjust your sound on the panel, add effects like delay and reverb or go into the deep editor via a USB collection to set up exactly the sound in your head. With 128 user patches, you know that you can take it to the stage or the studio and recreate it perfectly every time.

Here's what Blackstar say about the ID:30 Amp

The ID:15 and ID:30 boast many of the same unique features and functionality as the larger ID models but in a compact combo format.

Blackstar’s patent-applied-for True Valve Power offers six distinctly different power valve responses – EL84, 6V6, EL34, KT66, 6L6, KT88. When engaged it delivers the response, dynamics, sag and break up characteristics of a valve amp and uniquely delivers the same acoustic power output as an equivalent valve power amp. This means that for the first time ever, in an affordable series of amplifiers, these products deliver live without compromise – True Valve Power means Loud as valveTM.

The Voice control has six different channels – Clean Warm, Clean Bright, Crunch, Super Crunch, OD 1, OD 2. When used together with Blackstar’s patented ISF control you can get the exact tone you’re thinking of.

The effects section delivers studio quality modulation, delay and reverb effects simultaneously that you can store with your sound.

Deep editing and storing of patches is simple using the free Blackstar Insider GUI software. Patches can be shared, uploaded and downloaded via the online community. The USB connector also allows you to record your amp directly to your computer.

An emulated output, MP3/line input and footswitching complete the package.
By using the unique Voice control, the patented ISF and patent-applied-for True Valve Power, these amplifiers allow unparalleled flexibility and ease of use, enabling you to in effect, design the sound in your head and deliver it live as Loud as valveTM.

Individuality is power!

Your move, Line 6! As a valve amp enthusiast over the past 10 years I've played a whole range of lovely amps, but after an accident last year I sold off everything thinking I'd never play again. After some rehabilitation I was back looking at the amp market for something in the budget range as funds aren't great now.

For under £300 you really can't beat this. Almost perfect power-amp-saturation emulation here, my favourite crunch sound out of it is the 'Warm Clean' with all the dials cranked up! Really emulates that 'small-amp-on-10' sound, with all the dynamics you'd expect from a valve amp. The high gain sounds are huge, and as far as the EL34, 6L6 and EL84 emulations go (the amps I've had the most experience with) they really do sound like the real deal. I've never played any KT66 or KT88 amps before, but I really do love the sound these emulations put out.

The effects are nice, reverbs take a bit of tweaking but there's a lot you can do with the simple controls. This smaller combo is lacking a mid control on the EQ, but from what I've found the ISF can give you some decent control on the mids anyway...if in doubt just turn it all up and let your fingers do the talking!

There's only one real niggle with the amp and that is that the channel switching using the FS-10 footswitch is not as instantaneous as I'd like it to be, so I wouldn't use it on a live gig if I needed to change sounds quickly. Luckily I prefer the single channel approach using the volume knob to get my different sounds so its not a deal-breaker for me.

All in all, Blackstar have once again proven that they really know how to make a great amp, and the price is just ridiculous for what you get. I was close to just buying a Line 6 Spider, but after getting this there really isn't any point even thinking about it! If you want a ton of great sounds in a small, light and affordable package, you can't go wrong with this amp ;)
