The Gretsch G5222 is a great little amp that recreates some of the classic tones that made Gretsch guitars so popular and so famous. This little amp is a 5 Watt tube amp with simple controls so you can very quickly dial in the sound you are after and then get on with the playing.

This is what Gretsch say about the G5222

“Tone with soul” is how most players describe the compact-but-mighty Gretsch® Electromatic® G5222 Amp. Designed by guitarists, this low-output, easy-to-record 5-watt amp is perfect for small-room jam sessions and recording projects. It produces tone that spanks, sparkles and growls, and it rocks ’50s-era looks that are undeniably Gretsch.

Great little amp and it's nice to have the pure class A tube tone. The amp has plenty of head room and sounds great just plugged straight into the guitar. You start to get that lovely tube break up tone around the 3 o clock position and this is when the amp sounds best it sounds like a small fender tweed at this volume and it's just great. Some might see only one setting on the amp ( the volume ) as a set back. I personally like this as you don't get hung up on trying to achieve "that tone" and you just get great tube tone at a great price. This is a great amp for bedroom, small gigs or recording but might struggle at big venues but nothing a bit of micing up won't solve. It also takes pedals really well so put a good reverb In front of it and enjoy. I gave it 5 stars as to get tone like this at this price point is just amazing. .
