Fender Hot Rod Deville III 4x10 60w Tube Combo with Reverb

Combine classic dual channel Fender tone with a 4x10 cab, plenty of power, built in reverb and an FX loop and you have the Hot Rod Deville III - a premier gigging amp that will handle whatever you throw at it. From clean & broken up blues to heavy rock, the Hot Rod Deville takes it all in its stride with headroom to spare.

Here's what Fender say about the Hot Rod Deville

The world's most popular tube amps just got better! Fender Hot Rod series amplifiers are found on every stage in the world, large and small, and are used by guitarists from all walks of life. Hot Rod amps deliver unmistakable Fender tone and are the perfect platform for musicians to craft their own signature sound. These no-frills amps are affordable, reliable and loud, and they pair extremely well with stomp boxes.

The Hot Rod DeVille 410 III is a 60-watt combo with a classic 4x10" speaker configuration borrowed from the legendary Super Reverb and '59 Bassman amps, the low-end headroom characteristic of 6L6 tubes, a versatile all-12AX7 tube preamp, an effects loop and more. It produces amazing clean and overdriven tones and luscious Fender spring reverb, and an 8-ohm extension speaker output even lets you add a cabinet for additional stage coverage. Additional Hot Rod Deville 410 III upgrades include an easier-to-read black control panel with front-reading text, new badge, streamlined footswitch, and graduated volume and treble pot tapers.

Features

  • Improved modified tone circuit gives tighter overdrive voice and midrange punch
  • Graduated volume and tone potentiometers offer smoother, more refined and predictable linear sweep
  • Pedalboard-friendly footswitch design is sleek, tough and stage-ready
  • New Fender badge lets you know it's a retooled and refueled Hot Rod amp

Well First Impressions. Very nice packaging, Very Nicely presented. The Amplifier itself is Heavy that is probably the only down side to Such a Brilliant piece of Musical Engineering. The first time I switched it on The Tubes heated up very quickly and Was very quick to start Playing around with it trying out different sounds. The Footswitch Very handedly has a Velcro Strap inside the Cabinet for transporting so that it doesn't move around when You are carrying or driving. I am Highly impressed with this Amplifier and Definitely am looking forward to Many many years and Many many gigs with this Beautiful Amplifier!

As always, first class service from the guys at Andertons, amp turned up next day. I love this amp, I bought it to get Stevie Ray Vaughan sounds and also for volume. I got both. SRV used the bassman which is similar but this amp has reverb and a footswitch to select one of the two channels with a boost on channel 2. Great amp, great service, nuff said !!

This is an excellent, all-round combo than any gigging guitarist should strongly consider. If I could I'd give it 4-1/2 stars, but I'll get on to that later.

You can see the spec for yourself, but essentially it's a two channel amp of the time honoured Fender variety, but with an additional gain boost on the overdrive channel. Controls follow the standard Fender pattern but they've made the panel a bit easier to read on stage by replacing the black on chrome with white on black.

Build quality is good but not outstanding (it's made in Mexico if that's of any interest). On mine, there were small gaps in between the seams of the tolex, so check that if it bothers you but I'd never return it for that. The footswitch is greatly improved on the standard Fender model and is now really chunky and reassuring.

Clean channel tone is pure Fender. Mine is the 4x10 version which curiously to my ears knocks a little off the brightness compared with the 2x12, but there's a brightness button on the channel and anyway there's plenty on tap, particularly with the single coil guitars that unsurprisingly work best with this amp. OK it's not the absolute best clean I've heard - my old Soldano had that - but it's still very good.

Switch to overdrive and you'll stay there all day. Where this amp really, really excels is in the crunch zone. It's organic, meaty and really easy to control with the pick or the guitar volume pot, incredibly gratifying to play souped up fingerstyle. Just unbelievably responsive and it just so hard to stop playing.

Turn up the gain and it's always in control, even maxxed out with the boost. You're not going to get extreme metal out of this unit but if that's what you wanted you wouldn't have bought this particular amp anyway.

Oh and it's loud. Sixty watts is kind of loud anyway but this is a very loud 60 watts. Fine at rehearsal volume too.

So in summary it's no surprise that this is such a top seller. Try both the 2x12 and the 4x10 to see which floats your boat but try it anyway. This amp does the lot (almost).
