Fender Mustang amps are the latest evolution in affordable amplification with an incredible feature set packed into a great-sounding, portable box which will blow you away with it's tonal versatility.

The Fender Mustang is fully customizable via Fender's dedicated Mustang software and your computers USB port. It comes with 24 presets, but the tonal possibilities are endless.

Combine this with a 20W power amp and specially designed 8 inch speaker and you have a killer combo for home practice, rehearsal, and enough oomph for the average small gig.

Here's what Fender say about the Mustang I

MUSTANG series guitar amps offer up-to-date features and loads of fun . . . at unbelievable prices. Aimed at guitarists from beginner to weekend warrior, these high-performance machines contain highly accurate amp modeling, a stellar collection of effects courtesy of an all-new DSP platform, and many "hidden" capabilities, yet they are easy to use right out of the box!

The visually striking design treatment looks all new, yet evocative of classic Fender styling. And with loud, lightweight power amp designs and muscular speakers and cabinetry, they sound as good as they look. MUSTANG I is a 20-Watt closed-back combo with an 8 inch Special Design speaker. It is factory loaded with 24 presets built from 8 amp models and 24 effects, with tones from vintage Fender to modern Metal. The number of amp models can be increased with the use of a computer, and the amp can be completely reconfigured by the user.

All MUSTANG amps include USB connectivity for high-quality, low latency audio output, and to engage the Fender FUSE software application for PC and Mac. This opens up a world of possibilities, including on-screen parameter control, deep editing, "hidden" effects, unlimited preset storage, online preset swapping with the Fender FUSE community, and free Fender artist presets.  MUSTANG amps even include recording and modeling software packages from Ableton and IK Multimedia at no extra charge. MUSTANG amps deliver great sound; the possibility of endless experimentation; and a fun, unique experience for guitarists of all skill levels.

HIGH-SPEED

Mustang I and II contain 24 highly accurate on-board amp presets with tones from vintage Fender sparkle to outrageous modern metal distortion. Arranged in three banks of 8, all 24 amp presets are easily and instantly accessed right out of the box with only a twist of a single knob. Plug in and you're up and running.

AMPED-UP

Shape your tone with a huge bank of 24 built-in effects including chorus, flanging, phasing, tremolo, vibratone, step filter, reverb, echo, octaver and more - 12 modulation effects and 12 delay and reverb effects in all. Mustang amps pack it all into a striking visual design. Sleek and modern Fender styling provides a look that's as desirable as the sound.

LOUD

Mustang I and II sound great at any volume, and although they're the smallest members of the family, their closed-back cabinets and Fender Special Design speakers pump serious volume. The 20-watt Mustang I and the 40-watt Mustang II are great for practice and jam sessions. An 1/8" headphone jack lets you play loud, even if only for yourself.

USB CONNECTIVITY

Connect Mustang to your computer with free Fender FUSE software. Open up a world of possibilities, including on-screen parameter control, deep editing, additional effects, unlimited preset storage, online preset swapping with the Fender FUSE community, and free Fender artist presets.

CONTROL PANEL

Mustang runs from a very simple control interface, which includes gain, volume, treble, bass, master, preset select, modulation select, delay/reverb select, save button, exit button, tap tempo button - all easily navigated.

AMP MODELING

Mustang I and II contain 24 highly accurate onboard amp models with tones from vintage Fender sparkle to outrageous modern metal distortion. Easily connect to your computer to add to the number of amp models, too.

Mustang I and II give you 24 individual amp presets arranged in three banks of 8 (i.e., three '57 Deluxe presets, three Brit '60s presets, etc.). These presets are easily and instantly dialed up using the "preset" knob (or from your footswitch or computer). Turn this knob to scroll through each of the three preset banks, which are indicated on the control panel by LED columns colored amber, green and red.

The red and green banks are for creating your own presets; the amber bank can only be modified using Fender FUSE software.

MODULATION EFFECTS

Mustang further sculpts your sound with 12 sweeping, swooping and shimmering adjustable modulation effects, including chorus, phaser, flanger, vibratone, tremolo, step filter and octaver. Use your computer to add more effects, too.

DELAY / REVERB EFFECTS

Mustang makes the room resound with 12 easily adjustable delay and reverb effects ranging from subtle to cavernous, including tape delay, stereo/mono delay and room/plate/hall reverb.

Mustang I and II each have 24 effects controlled by two simple selection knobs on the control panel. The first knob ("MOD") controls 12 modulation effects; the second ("DLY/REV") controls 12 delay/reverb effect

The MOD and DLY/REV knobs share the same three selection indicator LEDS. These LEDS are numbered 1, 2, and 3, and they correspond to the three positions within each of the selection ranges, labeled A, B, C and D on each knob (see the Mustang I/II manual for a table listing the effects selection for each knob). Use the LEDs to determine exactly which position the knob is pointing to (using the factory settings of the "MOD" knob, for example, position 1 in the A selection range gives you chorus, position 2 in the A selection range gives you deep chorus, and position 3 in the A selection range gives you flanging).

Adjusting the effects levels on Mustang I and II couldn't be easier-simply hold down the "EXIT" button while turning the "MOD" or "DLY/REV" knobs. Doing this adjusts "how much" of a particular effect you'll get, according to your personal preference.

USB CONNECTION

Mustang includes USB connectivity for high-quality, low-latency audio output, and to engage the Fender FUSE software application for PC and Mac. This opens up a world of possibilities, including on-screen parameter control, deep editing, unlimited preset storage, online preset swapping with the Fender FUSE community, and free Fender artist presets.

TUNER

Onboard chromatic tuner puts intonation right on the money quickly and easily.

FOOTSWITCH

Inexpensive optional single-button footswitch puts two quick-access presets at your feet.

AUX INPUT

Auxiliary input for jamming along with a media player.

HEADPHONES OUTPUT

Speaker-emulated stereo headphone line out lets you play loud, even if only for yourself.

Really pleased with this little amp,in fact, after trying it out at home I bought a second one for my partner. As always many of the presets I wouldn't use, but the fuse software is excellent and makes setting up your own presets quick and easy (one of the primary reasons for purchase was to get away from computer software rigs). I had considered vox vt, but the fender just sounds more natural and alive.Have used them direct into logic via h/phones out to soundcard with good results, no noise to speak of.The only couple of things I would have liked are a footswitch capable of scrolling through, rather than just two sounds available, and a way of getting digital signal into soundcard, otherwise it would have scored 5. Still, very happy.

Much more than a practice amp, this little beauty is packed full of goodies. The 20 watt output is quite adequate in the home and would probably hold its own in smaller venues. Simple to use and with 17 amp models to choose from plus 24 presets. Delay/echo reverb, tremelo, gain and a host of other effects to play with gives you a vast choice of tones for the money. The tonal quality is excellent within the range limits of this particular Mustang model. Also includes easy to use LED guitar tuner. Added to all the above is the 'Fender Fuse' software which opens up a myriad of effect capabilities when connected to your PC or Laptop via the USB connection. Another major plus is the MP3/CD input for playing backing tracks. In short, a lot of Amp for your money.

Absolutely fantastic Amp, couldnt have asked for anything better, the amount of presets on there means i can switch the tones very easily, so i will be playing back in black for a bit then change the tone and start playing purple haze in a flash, brilliant presets already but can change them on the computer. Have one with fuzz and and change another to have a touch Wah, very loud as well, tremendous amounts of volume for a 20W speaker, fantastic buy and a great price.

Best little amp Ive ever used. Awesomely real fender amp simulations plus lots of other very useable sounds

-the Marshall 70's & 80's emulations are particulary good. The VOX 60's patch is killer!!!

Great quality effects and some "real" sounding fender reverb models including spring and plate. - buy it its a no brainer!!! FUSE is outsatnding software,go online and change just about anything you want including "Valve Sag" and biasing. Great service from Andertons.

WOW. I MEAN. WOW. This little son of a b* is incredible. You pay £100 for an amp that rivals the bigger, the more powerful and the more prestige amps, amps going for £500 will be rivaled in tone, versatility and overall satisfaction, this thing is a 20w monster! being such a small wattage, this baby can rip your heart out and spit on your face on the lowest of volumes. from jaw dropping METAL! to soothing blues this has it all!. yeah it has its drawbacks, but pfftt. ITS 100 POUNDS?! what can you get with while for that?! a few beers, a chinese take out and a happy ending. I mainly play metal, Brutal metal, and this PACKS A PUNCH! at first you may not be feeling it, but when you load up the Fender fuse software this thing goes from preset to PERFORMANCE. you can change EVERYTHING! I have never known such versatility, after playing around with it i got rid of the unwanted bass on the metal tone.... which will turn your downstairs living room into an amp itself, i should add.. and then i really opened up the sound and its has BAWLS. You were looking at this amp if you have seen this review, hell I could go on for days, dont bother trying it without the FUSE software though, at first trying it out, yeah i was impressed, but i just couldn't get the feel i wanted. Now Im playing fast, heavy and with one hell of a grin on my face. even if you are a pro, get this just to play around with in your room, You have a spare £100? well. need i say more?! Sam ray finally ending this essay, CHOU!

Very surprized and happy with the amp for so little money. So many effects that the whole thing was a little complicated at first but the instructional video soon sorted that out. If I were to buy a bigger amp I would seriously look at the Mustangs as the Mustang 1 is a great piece of practice kit.

Very good practice amp for the beginners.

Loads of different pre-sets (24 standard ones from top of my head) and large Fender FUSE community (pretty powerful software used by amp when connected to PC) offering custom settings, allowing to play almost every possible style of music.

It has very nice features like built in chromatic tuner (which sure helps in preps for jamming sessions)

It gives very nice sound and can pack nice volume too (for home conditions that is, don't expect too much but it still can make your neighbours share your musical taste whether they like it or not [hehe]).

It packs less power than Mustang 2 or 3 (or other competing amps) but I think 20W is more than enough for home practising.

As for the reliability: Since I've bought it just few weeks ago I can't really say much about long-term problems but so far it's doing great ^^

Overall I have to say that I am really impressed by quality/price of product ratio. It certainly is a nicely made, cool beginners amp and as such I can highly recommend it to anyone willing to start their musical career.

I think that although it's great product for beginners, more experienced musicians might want with something more powerful.

5/5 from me so far :D

This Amp is fantastic value for money, I don't know how Fender do it for this price. Ideal for home use and the sound quality is amazing. The Fuse software makes it so easy to dial in the sound you want.

Just the prefect home practice amp!

Amazing tones. I'm more into the clean fender tones than the metal ones, but this thing does then all, and the effects are pretty good as well.

Sounds great through headphones and the ability to play your MP3 player through it is great for learning or jamming along. This has replaced my old Pod, it just does it all so much better.

Awsome value, I just wish they had things like this when I started playing, at less than £100 it's a bargain.

If you're after an amp and effects unit on a budget, this really is the perfect amp!

It is compact, but still packs a punch. The effects are easy to access and tweek, with infinate possibilities opened up once you plug it in to a computer and use the FUZE software.

My Tele Blacktop sounds lovely when played through this amp, whether creating a clean sound, or giving it the beans!

    A great product.

The Fender Mustang 1 is light as a feather but puts out more than enough volume for home or small gigs. Having used some fairly expensive floor pedals, my expectations of a unit at this price were not very high but I was pleasantly surprised.

I have to admit that, as an old fashioned blues guitarist, I am not into effects. I just wanted access to those vintage amplifier sounds, a little reverb and maybe a smideon of slap-back echo. This little amp does all that admirably. It does very convincing Fender Champ and Deluxe tones and even the Twin Reverb tone is remarkable considering the size. It will never give the gut thumping bass of a real Twin Reverb, not with a single 8" speaker, but then I had to sell my real Twin Reverb because it was so unmanageable (and too clean).

The Fender Fuse software is easy to use and allows 'deep editing' of the tones and effects. Those edited tones can be stored on the amp for later recall.

If I have a niggle, it is that the 24 stored tones are hard to remember and the knob to select them is imprecise and would would benefit from 'click stops'. Selecting a tone in a hurry is a bit hit and miss.

For home use, it is hard to fault the Mustang 1. Great tones, light and compact, unbelievable price. If you do occasionally need more 'omph' it can be fed into a bigger amp or PA system via the headphone jack.
