The VOX AC30 combo amp has been an icon for decades, known as the sound that powered the 1960s' "British Invasion."

Based on the classic AC30 design, the all-new Custom Series AC30C2 and AC30C2X offer numerous up-todate enhancements, delivering the most versatile AC30 design in VOX history.

AC30C2: 30 Watts 2 x 12" Celestion G12M Greenback Speakers / Effects Loop.

An Evolution in Tone

VOX Custom Series amps offer two channels: Normal and Top-Boost. Each channel is equipped with its own Volume control, and the Top Boost channel offers highly interactive Treble and Bass tone controls. This powerful channel pairing provides an abundance of tone-crafting control, letting you dial in a classic sound that is all your own.

Both channels rely on the Tone Cut and Volume controls in the Master section. The Tone Cut control operates in the power stage rather than the preamp stage, allowing an additional degree of tone-shaping. The Master Volume control works in conjunction with the individual volumes of each channel to create just the right degree of gain-staging. By balancing the individual and Master volumes, the Custom Series can deliver everything from a clean VOX "chimey" sound to a powerful overdriven tone.

Sound in Motion

You can sweeten the sound of your Custom Series amplifier using the VOX Classic Tremolo effect. Both the speed and the depth are adjustable, allowing you to generate just the sound you want. A warm Spring Reverb is also included on all Custom Series amps, adding spaciousness to the sound. The AC30C2 and AC30C2X also include an additional tone control in the Reverb section. All Custom Series amps can use the VOX VFS2 footswitch, allowing you to turn the Reverb and Tremolo effects on and off as you continue to play. The AC30C2 and AC30C2X also provide an effects loop for incorporating your favourite effects into your sound. True "Bypass" switching takes the entire effect loop out of the circuit.

Power Sharing

The AC30C2 and the AC30C2X amps make use of 3 x 12AX7 preamp tubes and use 4 x EL84 tubes to deliver 30 watts of power. The AC30C2 uses two 12" Celestion G12M Greenback speakers. The AC30C2X uses two 12" Celestion Alnico Blues. All models in the Custom Series offer a switchable 8/16 ohm output jack for powering an external speaker cabinet when you need to speak with a little more authority; using this jack will mute the internal speakers. Additionally, a 2nd extension speaker jack allows you to run an extra 16 ohm cabinet along with the internal speakers for a fuller sound.

Excellent build quality. Fantastic sound. One of the best reverbs of any amp I've used, and I've had a few! The AC30 doesn't sound like any other amp. There is just something about it that makes it stand out, in the best possible way. I wish I'd got one years ago. It is loud, but not too loud. It is possible to use it at home, just (if you want that pushed valve amp sound in your living room, buy a 1watt valve amp and turn it up to 8). It is more than loud enough for rehersals and will cope with all but the largest gigs (most places mic up the guitar amp anyway these days). The clean tone is fantastic, clear, sparkling andI much prefer it to the usual Fender lean sound. Wind up the controls a bit and a great Blues bite kicks in. Wind up further and it's rock cruch to die for. Max it out and it'll scream away with the best of them. What this isn't is a Metal players amp. This amp is about tone, definition, clear cleans, crunchy overdrive and sustained blues/rock leads, all with an individual sound I've not found anywhere else. Very pleased I bought this amp.

I've had all sorts of amps and rigs over the years, from Marshall stacks, rack mounted systems, a recent Fender DeVille and have also built valve amps from scratch, all in search of 'that sound'. I've just found it in the AC30. This amp is really versitile whilst remaining very simple to use. The clean sounds are rich and vibrant. The crunch/bite sounds (just on the edge of break up) are perfect for great bluesy/rock leads and when you wind up the gain it gets pretty serious. I play a Gibson Les Paul so the input signal strength is quite high, giving a bit of help to the gain. The origonal tone of the guitar doesn't get lost and the sound never sounds processed. The spring reverb is one of the best I've ever heard on an amp and the on board vibrato is a great addition that gives that little bit of extra interest for occasional use. Before buying the amp I read a lot of reviews with people being concerned about how loud the amp is. This is a loud amp. It will be perfect for gigging in pubs, clubs and other small/medium sized venues. Most venues will have a PA to mike the amp anyway these days, so it'll be fine even in some of the larger places. When using the amp at home, it is possible to get a great sound at a reasonable 'bedroom' volume that won't upset the wife/neighbours. Yes, the sound does improve if you wind the amp up, as any valve amp will, so if you want that amazing 'pushed to the limit' valve sound in your living room, buy a 1 to 5 watt valve amp and turn it up. If you want something that will be great at home, great at rehersals and amazing for gigs, covering just about all eventuallities, it will be difficult to beat the AC30. I tried the amp directly against the AC15 and in my view the 30 sounds better. I've also been trying various effects boxes incuding OD, delays, copressors, etc and that all works fine and sounds great. Very pleased I bought this amp, amazed at the tone I get just plugging straight in and with the different sounds available. The AC30 has always had a reputation for being one of the origonal greats, now I know why. Wish I'd bought one years ago.

Vox AC30 Best sounding amp I have heard in a while, When it was demonstrated by Andertons staff it highlighted just how versatile this amp was. Great build quality with sweet chimey sounds as well as bottom end grunt not too big but a bit on the heavy side however well worth that extra weight. All in all highly recommended.

Finally took the plunge and upgraded my old 50W combo for the Vox AC30. Believe all the hype surrounding this amp, it's a stunning piece of equipment.

I play in a punk band and it easily punches out clear, classic overdriven tones. Could not believe the volume either - so loud!

£609 was an absolute bargain too, I have seen the same amp on line and in shops for well over £700.

I doubt I will ever have to buy another amp.

This is the best sounding amp I've ever owned! In past I've had a Marshall Bluesbreaker combo, Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb, Marshall JCM900 half stack, but this beats them all hands down! Build quality is fantastic. The controls give you the option of driving the preamp valves but still keeping the master volume low, so you can get decent valve overdrive without the ear piercing volume! If you're in any doubt, get one. Especially as it is SO cheap for what it is! If it got stolen I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

When I was choosing which amp to buy I tried loads of different ones from Vox Fender and Marshall and the moment I plugged in to this one it stood out. The clean tones are crystal clear and are warm without being muddy yet retain the high end crispness without being harsh to the ears. Very pleasing sound. When you push the tubes they generate that classic Vox crunch that we all love. There isn't an excess of effects, just two channels, a reverb and a tremolo and it's all you need. Couldn't be happier with the amp, gets extremely loud so volume will never be a problem but it sounds amazing quieter too. It's a Vox AC30, what more can I say?
