The Ibanez EWN30SYE 6-String Electro Classical Guitar (Flamed Sycamore Top, Natural)

The Ibanez EWN30SYE Electro Classical Guitar has superb comfort and tone due to its blend of tradition and modern, high quality construction. Sound and playability are the two most important components in an instrument.

But very few will deny that a standout visual aspect enhances your performance. The appearance and sound of the unique Exotic Wood Series were designed for the player who is looking for a completely new and different voice. You won't find anything else quite like the EW guitars - even among guitars that are much more expensive.

The EWN models are the first nylon string guitars in the EW series, dressed with beautiful figured wood body in gloss finish. The EWN30SYE features a compact and comfortable Veneitan cutaway body style, luxurious flamed Sycamore top, back and sides plus the superb B-Band UST Pickup and Ibanez SRTn Preamp with Notch Filter and Onboard Tuner.

The B-Band UST pickup provides incredibly well-balanced and warm acoustic sound reproduction. Getting the right sound every time, no matter what the venue, is made possible by the Ibanez SRTn Preamp. The SRTn' s innovative notch filter-equipped feedback reduction system allows high, loud sound levels on-stage without any annoying squeal creeping into the mix.

Adjustments are minimal - no more annoying onstage fiddling with your controls - and tuning up is a breeze thanks to the SRTn's convenient onboard tuner. The EWN30SYE-NT Classical Electro Guitar delivers all the quality you expect from Ibanez at the right price.

It's a little early to award the Ibanez more than three stars, as I'm inclined to think that it isn't supplied with the best strings for its physical limitations, which are - obviously - it's a laminate guitar, so resonance is likely to be compromised, and for me the neck is just a little too narrow. The acoustic sound response is a little dull. Having said that, it's fairly good amplified through my Ashdown. It's a very pretty guitar, and I'm going to gig it when I've got the right strings sorted.

Just bought the Ibanez EWN30SYE from Andertons and can't be happier. The guiter not only looks fantastic (as all of the EW series guitars do) but plays and sounds great with a fast action and the mellow tones of the nylon string set up on this model.

This hybrid type guitar is so nice in the hands with a narrower neck than most classicals it is very playable for all kinds of music styles. The body size is small enough to be very confortable but has surprising volume across the range - it easily match a couple of bigger bodied guitar I also have at home. The cut away body looks like it might not stay in place when sitting but it's no problem at all.

At the moment I've just tested the electronics through a small electric guitar amp and that sounds both bright and warm at the same time. Cant wait to try it in a decent acoustic amp.

Almost forgot, the built in tuner is a dream as it displays the notes as well as the normal red and green lights. This make it so much easier to tune, especialy when changing strings.

I tried a few other hybids before settling on this one and found it the best all rounder for sound and playability and the best looking by far.

There is something in the sound of a nylon strung guitar that evokes such passion and emotion and even though I am still wearing L-plates as far as my guitar playing goes, I am love the sound of a classical guitar.

I have short "robust" fingers and they are not tradional classical guitar friendly because the necks are very wide. So in my search for something more user friendly I came across this wonderful creation from Ibanez. It is a cutting edge design with a stunning highly figured sycamore top which adds a nice tone as well as being very aesthetically pleasing. As a guitar lover, sound is a primary concern but it's look immediately wins over the eye and the quality of workmanship on this modestly priced guitar is exceptional.

The guitar stays in tune very well thanks to the excellent tuners and the tonal control available from the on board pre-amp make this a very pleasant sounding instrument indeed. The addition of the tuner is another nice touch and the battery life is superb. The neck is very easy to get to grips with and it's dimensions are somewhere between that of a classical and a standard acoustic which make it more manageable to navigate. The fretboard is not as flat as that of a traditional classical therefore it makes for an infinitly more playable instrument. The string spacing has been worked out to offer the best of both worlds as well and I can thoroughly recommend this model (or the other exotic nylon strung guitars in the range) for anyone wanting to capture that latin vibe on a modest budget. I plug this into a cheap Behringer ACX450 Ultracoustic amp and I love the sound of the electro- classical in my attempts to achieve "Classical Gas" and fumble around the fretboard with a view to being the next Al Dimeola!
