Washburn have been making guitars in the US since the late 19th century. Being based in Chicago, their range of guitars was heavily used by the Delta Blues guitarists of the 1920s, eventually leading to the birth of rock and roll. Washburn make a range of acoustic, electric and bass guitars.

 

They are thought to be the first guitar company to utilise endorsements from famous musicians by providing their instruments for free in return for the associated promotional value. Among the artists who've used Washburn guitars are Paul Stanley of Kiss, Nuno Bettencourt, and Bootsy Collins.
