Yamaha RBX170 Bass Guitar

The Yamaha RBX170 is a great choice of bass if you're looking to get started. The Yamaha RBX170 uses a smaller body than the traditional "Fender" style, and players will find this lighter & more comfortable. The RBX170 also has a thin neck, so it feels fast to play - even if you have small hands. The RBX170 is a full size bass & as such is not suitable for children under the age of 12-13 years old. The RBX170 does not come in a starter pack - which is a drag as it's a great starter bass! However, we're happy to advise on putting a pack together for you - all you really need is a small bass amp & a regular guitar cable. On top of this you may want (although these aren't essential) a strap, a stand, a gig bag and some tuition material - all of which can be found if you browse this site.

Here's what Yamaha say about the RBX170 Bass Guitar

Body: Agathis
Neck: Bolt-on maple
Fingerboard: Rosewood, 250mm (10") radius
Frets: 24
Scale length: (864mm) 34"
Pickups: Two single coils
Controls: Master volume, master tone, pickup balance
Bridge: Chrome vintage style with four individual saddles

The RBX170 represents a price breakthrough for the RBX range, yet the quality is everything you'd expect from a Yamaha bass. The solid agathis body - in an attractive choice of colours - shares the range's sleek, wide-cutaway contours, allowing the player easy access right to the top of the 24-fret, full-scale neck which carries a genuine rosewood fingerboard.

Powering is by two punchy, clear-voiced single-coil pickups, with the volume and tone controls augmented by a pickup balance control for added sonic versatility and expression.

Available Colours:
black

Excellent product and not too heavy for my young son, who is now happily playing away in his free time.
