Ashdown Electric Blue EB12 Bass Amp EVO II

Ashdown is one of the worlds biggest names in bass amplification. They have a huge list of famous users (U2, System of a Down, Radio Head, Jamiroquai - the list goes on & on!), and whats even better is that Ashdown is a British company.

Here's what Ashdown say about the Electric Blue Series

Ashdown Electric Blue bass amplification loads legendary Ashdown tone into an affordable new amp head and a pair of high-performance, high-value combos.

The EB 12-180 1 x 12" combo uses a 180 Watts RMS fan-cooled fast-transient power stage, and a fully-featured bass preamplifier with inputs for both active and passive instruments, an illumunated VU meter, 5 band EQ with Bright and Deep switches, a front panel-mounted balanced DI output for connection to a PA or recording console, an FX loop, a tuner/line output and the classic Ashdown sub-harmonic generator.

Consistent with its EVO II status, the combo also includes a built-in compressor to provide an exceptional level of sonic control for a bass amp of this size and cost.

A high-performance Ashdown bass driver ensures exceptional attack, clarity and low-end performance, while an extension speaker output can be used to connect an additional cabinet for use in larger venues. The cabinet is finished in a tough, retro-style vinyl covering.

Great little amp, more powerful than you'd expect from a 180W. Nice features and a very clean, dry Ashdown thump, similar to their bigger models, most people can't tell a huge amount of difference other than the lower power rating. EQ is very thorough. Unfortunately my first model has a busted VM meter out of the box but Anderton's have offered to swap the whole model.

All you could want in a bass amp and more. It looks fantastic and sounds great. The controls are easy and clear and the built in DI is perfect for using the amp in a bigger setup. I have yet to find a fault in this amp

Great combo, clear, full and quality sound with great lows, no boomyness or muddyness and good mids. I play mostly fingerstyle wich it excells with and slapping is good too. it has some fetures which i never use like the compression and sub harmonics however that isn't to say they are no good. It can also be quiet loud while keeping clarity. There are 2 speaker outputs from the amp which means i can upgrade. Also with a DI out it is very flexible.

Very pleased with the amp. Very flexible in the sounds you can get out of it, and good enough to do small to medium sized gigs with. Excellent amp at a very good price!
