The TC Electronic BH500 Bass amp is being hailed as a new generation of bass amp technology. Packed to the rafters with features, the BH500 will gives the modern bassist the tonal variety he or she needs. TC Electronic have ensured that the BH500 head is a gigging dream with everything you'd normally expect from a bass amp plus TC's Spectracomp (a multi-band compressor tuned for optimum performance on Bass), and advanced tone controls to allow you control the amount of emulated tube drive and tweeter volume.

This amp is feature packed, yet easy and intuitive to use so you can concentrate on the next song, rather than worrying about whether your tone has the right amount of punch or cut! Bass amp 2.0 is here!

Here's what TC Electronic say about the BH500 Bass Head

BH500 is the newest addition to our Bass Amp 2.0 line up. Combined with the all-new BC410/BC212/BC210 cabinet range, it stacks up to become any rig you need - for small bar gigs, indoor rock clubs, outdoor stadium concerts, you name it!

The BH500 feature set leaves little to be desired with its razor-sharp, tone-shaping tools such as TubeTone, SpectraComp and bass tuned tone controls. Also, the 3 user memories let you change tone at any given time while the integrated tuner allows you to tune up silently before you rock.

SpectraComp

A conventional compressor is often dominated by the lower string, but with SpectraComp, which is taken directly from the original RH450, you get 'per string' multi-band compression that evens out the compression across all strings. In short, you get an even and rock solid tone that cuts through any mix whether you play fingerstyle, with a heavy pick or slap the strings hard.

TubeTone

The TubeTone effect was originally introduced on RH450. Most transistor designs try to replicate tube sound using one small preamp tube, but why not take the crucial characteristics of a full preamp and power amp into account? Both are essential to the sound when you want that classic tube warmth as well as when you go for a full-on overdriven rock sound with a massive punch!

Presets

BH500 can store three of your favorite tones. For instance, if you need a nice chunk of overdrive on specific passages, presets are king. Not to mention, with great sounding bass tones and seamless switching between them, you will be able to focus on the important thing - rocking out!

Built-in bass tuner

Every once in a while, you need to tune up, and whenever that happens, just let the built-in tuner guide you. It's simple, it lets you tune silently, and it gets you back to rocking in no time.

Tone Controls and TweeterTone

EQ is always a bass essential, so we have equipped BH500 with a great sounding, 4-band EQ which is perfect for shaping your fundamental tone. Further, with two contour filters you can scoop the mid-frequencies, which creates an amazing low-end punch on demand.

The tweeter control is usually located on the rear side of the cabinet, but on the BH500 you can simply adjust the tweeter level right from the front panel. Further, the sound also gets modified slightly with filters giving you a much more intelligent control over the high frequencies that are critical for giving your sound that razor-sharp edge.

Connections

Just plug and play! And for rehearsing or jamming along you can connect your portable music player to the AUX input. If you don't want to disturb the neighbors, plug in your headphones and the drivers will be muted automatically. Finally, you can send a signal to a sound-engineer via the balanced XLR output - or to an audio interface when you are recording the rock hits of tomorrow!

Having used an amp-modelling bass head for some time, and getting frustrated with the difficulty of making quick adjustments on-stage, I decided to look for an alternative amp, that had the best of contemporary technology, while keeping it simple when it needed to be! As Bass-player with the Innes Sibun Band, I needed an amp that delivers onstage and, coupled with my Orange Isobaric cabs, this does; bigtime! Loads of volume, great compression across the strings, tube emulation to give a bit of 'growl' when needed, and an inbuilt tuner that's easy to use. It also has three memory slots, but for me, the ease of use onstage has made the TC Electronic BH500 a winner. Also, ridiculously good value for the price. A bit early to talk about reliability, but so far, so good!

This amp sounds just like a good amp should do.

I used to make my own valve amps using dual EL84's [in push-pull configuration] output and ECC83 and ECC81's back in the late 60's so I really like the TubeTone effect.... brings back happy memories.

This is a really solid well made amp and it will hopefully last me for many years. I cant think of a situation where I would need any other!!

Fantastic sounding amp. Demo'd with 4x10 TC cab. Purchased with offer of buy one, get one free. Great deal, plus the cabs are only 24kgs each-easy to carry!

Some great features as demo'd on U-tube and TC's website. A real winner! (shame there are no covers supplied for the amp or cabs!)

Only down side was that no speaker leads were supplied, even though website stated these would be included. Phoned straight away and they arrived next day. Great service and interaction with Andertons throughout!

I had my doubts about moving from a valve pre-amp driven amp to a transistor based one after some 25 years. But I have to say that I was overly impressed with its tonal power, precision, volume, tone presets and compressor functionality. Connected to my Boss GT10b bass effects, I am able to pick additional tones that were not heard through previous gear, which is a surprise...

Band colleagues are amazed with the tonal system and versatility between the 2*10 and 4*10 speaker cabinets.

Again a full thumbs and definite buy from me, and value for money.

Andertons service was also exemplary and a five stars too.

Best Bass head ive ever had. Lots of power and not too heavy. Well designed with great features. The contour and memory function work very well and having a low mid and high mid EQ along with adjustable tweeter level means total control with any bass guitar. The compressor is also a superior design and produces very natural even compression across all your strings. Overall an excellent product - Ichose this over an AMPEG rig and I have to say I think it sounds better to my ears. the "tubetone" preamp really does produce convincing tube breakup and the ability to mix with a solid state pre amp section offers many sonic possibilities.

Great value and great offer with free extra cab. 100% satisfied with this head and also the good advice from Andertons in helping make my purchase. GREAT!

Great sound combined with the 4x10 and the 2x12 cabs that I purchased together. I have used the 2x12 alone for a quick gig and was very pleased with the sound from just this cab. But bigger venues needed tboth cabinets!

The Bass head is great, and I make use of the Tuner and memory settings at all gigs. For me, 3 memory settings is enough although no footswitch to change during the song, I have had no problems doing it by hand.

I play POP/ROCK and get good volume and clarity in pubs/clubs and larger venues. A great buy!!!

Having seen a few demo videos on Youtube, the TC Electronic BH500 bass head piqued my interest so after finding out that Andertons wasthe nearest stockist I headed off with credit card in hand to try it out.

Had a good half hour to play around with the various settings on this amp and what can I say? I was blown away with how good my bass sounded through it, not a transparent sound as such, the amp does have it's own sound so to speak but I could definitely hear more of the character of my bass. I could dial in anything from a "scooped" funk tone to a good approximation of a "classic rock" tone, easily set out dials that are user friendly.

So for the price - a very versatile, powerful bass head and certainly nowhere near as heavy as my old Trace Elliot!

Good punchy sound from this head, with a lot of flexibility, due to the many tone controls, tubetone and spectracompression. I use it with an Ibanez SR500 and I get all the sounds I want , and it seems genuinely powerful, and drives my set up well ( 4x10" and 15")

The head is also very quiet.. with no hum or fan noise.

Its also got a tweeter control ,so that you can alter the high frequencies from the amp. head, and hear the change. This is very convenient. Also convenient is the built in tuner.

So to sum up, I am very pleased with it.
