I'm a keen novice guitarist still trying out different strings.

Why Elixir? The prolonged life seems attractive if like me you find string changing a chore. In use I find them slightly lubricated which helps prevent the dreaded seagull squeak which plagues many new acoustic strings. They are supplied with many new 'high end' guitars and presumably these guys know how to make their instruments perform at peak. Yes, they are 2-3 times the price of conventional strings but to my ear the tone is crystal clear so I reckon they are definitely worth it overall.

This is the first time i've used Elixir's for Acoustic Guitar and my overall impression of them is pretty good. Yes, they are a little pricey compared to lots of other makes, but 'horses for courses', boy do they they hold their Tone!! I use them on a Takemine TNV360 and the 10-47's are really a bit too light for the Timbral quality I'm always after on this model(like most Guitarists...)but nothing else will do for smoothness, playability and the strings' ability to hold its original sound. Fingerstyle playing is a lot easier and the coating greatly reduces 'string squeak' whilst sliding up the fretboard. Capo' use requires careful adjustment as these extra light strings will pitch-vary, as on other makes. I've had to use a light (0.5mm) plectrum as my usual 1/1.2mm plec's punish the top E and (wound-not steel)G strings too much - probably my heavy playing style! I've now got a case full of Elixir's but, so far, not had to replace a set - amazing! Dave G'

they're simply amazing strings, aren't they? unmistakable tone, HUGE lifespan... as a regular string breaker they last longer, sound better and brighter, are easy to clean, and stay in tune solidly.

The only downside is that they're pretty expensive; but once you overlook that, (or compare to how much you spend on strings that are always breaking or rusting quickly) elixr strings are the best for value available.
