The AER Compact 60 Acoustic Guitar Amp

More & more guitar players are buying dedicated guitar amps for their acoustic guitars. Plugging your acoustic guitar into an electric guitar amp will make your acoustic sound like an electric - sounds obvious doesn't it, but until a few years ago, that's pretty much what everybody was doing. AER were one of the first companies to get into acoustic guitar amp design. A good acoustic guitar amp just takes the natural sound of an acoustic & makes it louder - it shouldn't colour the sound at all. The AER Compact 60 does an amazing job of recreating your acoustic tone at gigging volumes. What makes this amp even more astounding is how small it is - 10" High, 13" Wide, 19" Deep & only 8.5kg. The AER Compact 60 also comes with built in digital FX like reverb & delay - it also comes with a deluxe padded cover. AER make all their amps in Germany, so you know this is going to be a quality product that's built to last. The only downside is that their web site hasn't been translated into English very well, so the bit you read below isn't grammatically quite right! Still their English is a lot better than my German, so I really shouldn't complain!

Here's what AER say about the Compact 60

The Compact 60 was developed after the Acousticube, on which its concept is based and it helped substantially to break out of the boutique-corner. We were able to prove to a bigger and increasingly more interested public that an all-round, small, powerful and yet simple complete solution for stage, studio and home use does exist and that it works up to the highest demands and standards.
Known as Bingo or Compact 60 it has found many friends around the world with its size - smiled at in the beginning - being its second strongest side. Tried out during live performance it has become the standard equipment of those musicians who value sound, simplicity and independence.
This system with its 8" twin-cone speaker-system, 60 watts of power and fully developed dynamic control within the model's small dimensions has not only found much appreciation but has also become the basis for a whole line of step by step, developed and refined AER acoustic systems. The working horse - partner in a long-term relationship

    AER Compact 60

I'm a big fan of this amp, and turning up to a gig it's often like an owner's convention, because everyone else is using them too! The 2 channels are handy, as you can put a mic through one and your guitar through the other, with digital reverb. The FX are basic but clean, several reverbs and a chorus setting.I use either an acoustic or an archtop. Although the sound is a little harsh and digital it always projects very well, and is easily loud enough for restaurant gigs, most weddings. The XLR out is great for hooking up to a PA.

The portability is the key thing. You can move all your gear in one trip, or on the Tube, without any hassle. The AER is built like a tank and will never let you down - it's basically a miniature PA.
