When looking at handheld, portable solid state recorders, it's always useful if you can plug in your 'normal' mics with your 'normal' mic cables! The PMD660 boasts balanced XLR inputs and provides phantom power to condenser mics. Since the device records to compact flash, there are no moving parts, which makes the unit very robust. A USB connector allows connection to computer so you can edit your interviews in the taxi on the way back to the studio!
