Roland HPD10 Handsonic Electronic Percussion
The Roland HPD10 brings the fantastic V Drum technology into a hand playable pad. It looks a bit like the top of a conga, with the soft rubber pad split into several different areas, each one capable of triggering a different sound. All the sounds & effects are incredibly realistic, & the HPD10 Handsonic is fully touch sensitive - the sounds actually dynamically change as the pads are hit with different force. The HPD10 handsonic could be used professionally in a live percussion set up, or it could be used in the studio with either its internal sounds, or as a trigger device for any other midi device. It could also be used in education as a great way to introduce children to all manor of different percussive instruments.
Here's what Roland say about the HPD10 Handsonic
Roland's flagship HPD-15 HandSonic is a revolutionary instrument. Simply, there is nothing else like it. There wasn't anything like the HandSonic before its debut, and there hasn't been anything like it since. Until now. From the company that made electronic hand percussion world famous, Roland announces the second member of its HandSonic family: the HPD-10. More affordable and streamlined than its big brother, it offers the same great pad response that made the original HandSonic so popular, but with a specialized set of features and a fresh batch of sounds, rhythms, and effects.

New Sounds An all-new collection of sounds has been created for the HPD-10; approx. 400 high-quality instruments are onboard. All of the percussive essentials have been included - congas, bongos, tabla, djembe, cajon, etc. - as well as melodic percussion, drum kit, special effects, and more. No matter the genre, from ethnic to electronic, the HPD-10 has you covered.
Style Guide Metronome The HPD-10 has a new type of metronome that provides an inspiring selection of rhythm patterns based on a variety of music styles. It helps you not only for practice, but also for sessions as play-along patterns.
Sensitive Surface Whether you're laying down the most delicate finger rolls or the sharpest slaps, the HPD-10's playing surface can handle anything you give it. The comfortable round surface is divided into ten individual pads with pressure and positional sensitivity. The popular D Beam is also included for dramatic triggering and pitch control. Strike a virtual gong with your head, and control the pitch of a talking drum with your hand waving up/down, you get the picture.
Rhythm Coach Flaunting on the stage or in the studio is the fun part, but behind the scenes it's practice that gets you the gigs in the first place. For this purpose, Roland has equipped the HPD-10 with a Rhythm Coach. This virtual trainer provides exercises to improve your timing and knowledge of rhythms.
I/O Options The HPD-10 is all about hand percussion, but if you want to get your feet into the action, you can do so by adding a kick trigger (optional) to make an additional sound or by adding a foot/pedal switch (optional) to do the same thing or control the Hi-Hat sound. The input is dual-trigger compatible, so you can double your triggering power from a single input via PCS-31L Y-cable (optional).
