Wharfedale EVPS12M Passive Monitor
Making sure that your band can hear what they're playing is critical, so having decent monitors is as important as having a decent main PA. The Wharfedale range of monitors are a little more expensive than our basic Laney range, but they are louder & do sound better. The range features 2 powered monitors & 2 matching passive extension monitors.
EVP12PM 12" 200w monitor (EVPs12M is the matching extension) EVP15PM 15" 200w monitor (EVPS15M is the matching extension)
Each powered monitor can drive 1 of the matching extension monitors. This is a money saving feature, as the passive monitors are about half the price of the powered ones. The EVP12PM is a a good all round vocal monitor, whilst the EVP15PM has more bass & makes a better drum monitor.
A good tip with wedge style monitors is to make sure the monitor is pointing at your ears - this may sound obvious, but all too often the singer stands right next to the monitor & the angle of the speaker is facing at his/her knees. They then want the monitor turned up louder & thats when you get feedback. You should move the position of the monitor, or wedge something under it to adjust the angle it's facing, so that it's pointing at your ears. You won't need the monitor turned up so loud & you'll get less feedback problems.
Here's what Wharfedale say about the EVPS Passive Monitors
In designing the new EVP-S Series, we listened to those of you who were having problems competing with such units as the Yamaha and Peavey. In order to compete directly we needed some added extras. So, the new EVP-S Series comes with a top quality compression driver, improved handles, and re-designed monitors. So, now it not only sounds better than the others, but it offers all that they do as well!
The all-new EVP-S family features significant improvements to the already excellent and successful EVP range. Our all new WP-M44 compression driver is purpose built "real" driver with a special 44mm Mylar based diaphragm and radial slit phase plug.
This high quality device gives low distortion with very high output levels. The frequency response of this new driver extends out beyond 20kHz for a smooth open high end with exceptional output power.
This W-M44 driver represents a breakthrough in this product class and above. To save money, competitors are using off the shelf, general purpose piezo drivers. To build in sound quality and reliability, Wharfedale Pro is building its own drivers and using real crossovers with limiter/protection for the HF section. The sonic improvement found in the EVP-S family is dramatic and immediately apparent.
The powerful and efficient woofers used in each of the systems are purpose built for each model. No off-the-shelf components thrown into a box, these systems give high output and efficiency with reliability and strength.
Compare the sound quality and output capability of any of the new EVP range with any competitor: price for price or performance for performance. There is no Competition!
