Clavia's goal when developing the Nord Electro 2 was to create the best emulations of traditional electromechanical keyboard instrument on the market and to make the instrument compact and lightweight. Nothing else. No brass banks or orchestral sounds. No compromises. Just outstanding electromechanical keyboard sounds with true feel, from instant keyboard response to authentic sound.
To make a great tool you have to put all the focus on a few things, and that's what they did with the Electro 2. Think about it - the best tool isn't a Swiss Army knife. There are a number of unique electric keyboard instruments that have always been a vital component in music over the years. Instruments that have a distinct sound and a soul of their own.
Remember that wonderful organ sound in Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale", the great electric piano in Supertramp's "The Logical Song", or the Clavinet sound in Stevie Wonder's "Superstition"? The list could go on forever.
These types of keyboards inspired generations of musicians and continue to gain new admirers every day. Now, a selection of these classical electric keyboards have something in common.
Organ
The organ of the Electro 2 is based on a digital simulation of the mechanical tone wheels of the B-3 organ. It §offers innovative solutions to mimic the typical..
B-3 sound. For example: a complex digital model of the original chorus and vibrato scanner, modeling of the individual random contact bounces for each partial and modeling of the frequency characteristic of the built-in pre-amp which forms the "body" of the B-3 sound.
The Electro 2 also faithfully simulates the energy stealth on the tone wheels that result in the typical "compressed" sound you get when you play many notes simultaneously. The "virtual tine wheel: of the Electro 2 have been tuned exactly according to the original B-3 design. As icing on the cake we implemented an unprecedented digital rotary speaker simulation.
The piano section comprises five carefully multi-sampled electric piano instrument: Rhodes Mk l Stage Piano, Rhodes Mk l Suitcase Piano, Wurlitzer 200A, the custom modified Clavia Electric Grand Model G and the Mega Clavinet D6. The Mega Clavinet D6 sound offers all the filter and pick-up variations of the original Clavinet D6. In other words, you have access to no less then 60 + 4 different Clavinet D6 sounds in the new Electro 2
We also included an acoustic malmsjoe Grand Piano - in stereo. The Electro 2 has a unique multi-sanple playback, catching all nuances throughout the whole dynamic range. Thanks to the innovative multi-sample playback engine we can also model the characteristic key release sounds of the piano instruments to make them even more authentic.
