Epiphone Hummingbird Acoustic Guitar (Click picture for a more detailed view)
If you asked us for a list of the top 5 all time classic acoustic acoustic guitars, the Gibson Hummingbird would be in there. With its robust tone - great for banging out chords - and it's distinctive cherry sunburst finish & engraved scratchplate, the Hummingbird is an iconic guitar. The Epiphone Hummingbird is a licenced copy that features a solid spruce top & mahogany back & sides. It'll produce a similar sound to the Gibson, but it won't be quite as loud or as resonant. Of course, the Epiphone is one tenth of the price of the Gibson so you really can't complain if it doesn't quite sound like the original version! When compared to similarly priced guitars we think you'll find that the Hummingbird stands up very well indeed.
Here's what Epiphone say about the Hummingbird Acoustic
The Hummingbird is an acoustic guitar with solid spruce top and mahogony back/sides. It is the mahogany equivalent of the Dove. Like the Epiphone Dove, the Epiphone Hummingbird is a recreation of the Gibson classic, with chrome hardware, 24.75" scale, 1.68" nut width, set neck joint, rosewood/split parallelogram fingerboard, binding on the body and neck, mahogany body and neck, solid spruce top.
